Topic: Summerset...Going for the Gold

Good morning....

Had a good leg workout yesterday.  I went to the gym at an odd time.  It was so nice.  There was hardly anyone there and I didn't have any interruptions which was good because I was doing monster sets.  My butt is feeling it today.

I'm displaced again.  I have china and crystal all over my desk so I'm in the basement family room with my laptop.  At least it's comfy.  I'm ready for my kitchen.  Yesterday they only got the rest of the ceilings painted so it was hard to see that they had done much.  I hope today when i get home I find mustard and green walls.  I'm getting anxious.

Cardio, abs/calves today then I have a doctor's appointment.  At least I'll get to get cleaned up and out of the house.

TGIF, right?

Michelle, I am learning so much from you and how you manage your off season weight.  I love your attitude about food in general and especially when you 'treat' yourself or mess up.  This board is helping me to relax about that so much and to be more forgiving of 'me.'  I am learning from you and so many others that I can stay in control, mess up, and fix it.  No worries, no problem.  Sometimes I just get so mad at myself because my screw ups can set me back a week.  Like my lunch with my sister in law yesterday.  Emotionally I needed it, physically I screwed up!  Happy birthday to your girls!  5 has been a fun age with my daughters.

Pam, I have done that, too.  I actually did it a few weekends ago.  I have chalked it up to progress.  Why?  Because for the first time, I actually logged everything I ate and counted it.  It wasn't too pretty, but I actually owned it, acknowledged it and moved on.  It was really nice to write down the good, bad and ugly.  It's very educational as well.  You being a scientist, would like that aspect.  Just look at it like a learning experience and a scientific experiment.  Besides that, there's a great quote (which I can't remember verbatim) that says something like winners are defined not by how many times they succeed, but by how many times they get back up after falling.  Isn't that true?  Look how easy it is it fall off the wagon and STAY THERE.  It's much more difficult to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back on that wagon.  Each time you do that you are getting stronger emotionally and it becomes easier.  I'm also proud of you for recognizing what your body needs and what is triggering your binge.  Embrace that success.

Topic: Summerset...Going for the Gold

Good morning....Had a great time yesterday with my sister in law.  Lunch was so much fun, and since I NEVER get to do that, I let my guard down a little.  Overate and splurged.  I did have fish though.  I know I'll be upset with myself when I weigh today, but I really needed to relax and have fun so I refuse to beat myself up.  I've been hanging on by a thread most days anyway.  It's just feeling like a lot.  Today I need to be here, but I also have a client to train and I need to get legs done.  They sanded and painted the kitchen only yesterday.  I came home to the fine white dust over EVERY freakin' surface in my house!  One of the guys told me I needed to unload my china cabinet and curio cabinet of china and crystal.  However, when I got home there was still 'stuff' in the dining room, I have no clue as to where to put anything (I have boxes or something displaced in about every area of my house already) and I had no help.  My husband hears 'help me' and he seems to be running in the other direction.  He decided he needed to do field work until late instead.  I ended up not doing it at all and they can help me today, I guess.  I have cleaning people coming this morning so she can help me too as there won't be a lot of rooms for her to clean, but I was hoping to be able to stay on top of some of the dust.  HA!  I think I was dreaming there.  I think I remember why I quit going out for an afternoon.  It's too much trouble and then I come home to chaos.  It isn't always worth it.  <sigh>

Char, I do not know how you did that!  That's beyond stressful to me.  It would have been a huge feeling of accomplishment though.  Wow!!

MC, you're right.  Not much variety and that is what is starting to get to me.  I need to find something else to eat!  I'm having trouble getting food at drive throughs, too because there is just too many carbs or too much fat.  Surprisingly, McDonald's and Taco Bell have had the best food choices for me.  Sonic and Dairy Queen are out of the question, as is Arby's.  Thank goodness for the rotiserie chickens at Walmart!

I apologize for not checking in with everybody lately.  I hope I can catch up with you this weekend maybe.  I'm still thinking of everyone!

Wow...the week is flying by and I haven't had a chance to check in here.  I hope everyone is doing well.  Maybe I'll get a chance this weekend to catch up.  I've been using my internet time to get some things for Christmas taken care of.

Kitchen update:  The demo is going well.  Lighting is all wired.  Sheet rock and mudding done.  Family room painted yesterday.  I really like it.  Two of the walls are a dark brown, 'french roast' I believe is the name of the paint.  Looks great with the lighter woodwork and the wall of windows.  Very cool.  I am painting my ceilings as they are 15' and white makes them so bright and cold.  Now they are 'inviting ivory' and it helped warm it up.  My house is a complete disaster.  The good thing is that I'm quarantined in my basement which is like a 2 bedroom apartment, small, with 3 kids (one being a teenager and one being a hyper 9 yo), 1 hyper dog, and 2 playful cats.  lol  It's got it's good side and bad.  The fun thing was that my daughters and I played Guitar Hero last weekend.  Fun!  I made a feeble attempt at the guitar.  No, wait, I think it was Rock Band because my 14 yo played the drums, 5 yo was on vocals and I was guitar.  lol  Last night, after cleaning in my storage room (TONS of stuff to donate and consign!!! wooohoooo), I found my old FIRM videos.  I loved those things.  My 5 yo did an aerobic workout with me.  The kids thoughts it was funny that I was breathing hard and sweating.  And impressed that I still remembered how to do them.  lol

The cabinets will be ready to install December 1 and 3.  Then I get granite and tile.  The entire project won't be finished until the 22nd.  That has me a little shook up.  I let it get the best of me a little last weekend and made some not-so-good food choices.  Cooking has gone better than I expected, but still not perfect.  I'm eating a LOT of egg whites and oatmeal.  Last night I finally got some fish and broccoli.  Anyway, our traditional xmas is off.  My goal will be to have my house cleaned and kitchen in order by xmas.  I have guests who come the 27th and stay several days.  Yikes!!!  We are forgoing gifts in our house this year.  I have no place to put them.  We are adopting soldiers, animals, needy families, etc.  I hope my children will rediscover the true meaning of xmas by doing this.  They have a severe case of the 'gimmes.'  I told them I'd still let Santa come.  lol  As for decorating, we'll have a little bitty tree and that's it.  It's freeing and sad at the same time.  I'm actually getting excited about it though and taking the kids to shop for other families in need.

Time to wake up kids and get myself on the treadmill.  I am going to a holiday homes tour today with my sister in law.  It's a true girls day out.  We're doing lunch and a glass of wine!  Woohoooo!!! I'm so excited and i can't decide what to wear.  lol

I'll third that thought.  You have some play with your macros without sacrificing your weight.  You will be able to lift heavier and harder with some extra food in you.  Use it to your advantage and you'll get the muscle you're looking for.

That is a killer workout,mc!  Omg, I'm dying just thinking about it.  That also seems really fast for your height.  I'm so impressed.  I'll be thinking about you while i'm walking my inclines later, but I hope your idea doesn't overtake me and I jump off to do plyos.  I hate plyos.  I do cardio on an empty stomach, too.  I prefer it actually.  Mary convinced me to take 1 oz banana and that isn't so bad.  I'm starving when I get done though so I have my shake handy.  Man, I can not get over that workout!

Topic: Summerset...Going for the Gold

I don't know, Miki.  Just came home and got hit with "everything on the east wall of the garage and everything in the storage area of the basement has to be moved before we can vent that water heater."  WHAT?!  Ok, after a deep breath and calling my husband to tell him to get here asap with help, I have realized that this gives me that opportunity I've been wanting to get my husband to take boxes and boxes of storage crap to donate.  I'm hanging by a thread here, but that's the bright side!  I am trying not to think about where the heck is it going to go?  Our only living space right now is the family room in the basement and now they want that too?!

Other than that, had a great leg workout.  I bumped squat up to 240x6 and I'll hold there for another workout to get my form stronger and go deeper.  I LOVE going that heavy!  The bar bends and it's so cool.  lol   I still have 30 minutes of treadmill incline walking to get done later after everyone leaves this time.

The electricity is flickering because they are doing wiring today, but I'm going to attempt my crock pot chicken.

Weight was down again.  138.4  This isn't so bad afterall.  Maybe I don't need a new kitchen, I just need a table with an electric skillet.  I made the kids scrambled egg whites and toast this morning.  It was great.  Can you believe they like egg whites better than dad's goopey, cheesey scrambled eggs?  They beg for mom's eggs.  YES!!!  haha

Better go see what's happening now.

Topic: Summerset...Going for the Gold

Yesterday was a good diet day again.  I'm amazed at how easily it's been to follow my normal food plan so far.  My electric skillet works great to whip up quick skillet lunches.  I'm going to try a full dinner tonight, providing there aren't any distractions this afternoon.  We've run into a problem with a vent from our gas hot water heaters.  It can't be moved, or so the current heating/cooling people say.  So we are in the process of getting second and third opinions.  My feeling is that the htg/clg guys were just not confident enough to do it.  We'll see what today brings.  It's a pretty big problem though anyway you look at it.  The next problem is that the bar comes out too far into the room making a very small walkway that I am not comfortable with.  Al beit it's all only marked on the floor and I have to use my imagination, but we are going to have to make adjustments to all that.

Here's my plan for the day:  Get out of the house before the workers show up so that my leg workout isn't messed up!  Tongue out  Focus and get through that, come back and deal with the problems.  Stay on my diet, hopefully get a chance to throw chicken in the crockpot in time for it to be ready for me to eat tonight, get my pm cardio in after the guys leave.  All good.  Except for haircuts, early dismissal and basketball practice that I have to fit in.

Jane- Thrifty, I like it!  I'm really going to have to cut back.  I say that every year and then can't do it, but this year my husband will have a cow if I don't.  It will help that my focus is the kitchen instead of making my kids' dreams come true.  They aren't really toy kids, so that helps.  My 9 yo keeps asking for a Santa costume.  Cracks me up!  He found his Santa hat from last year in a closet and he's been wearing it.  He's such a goober.  lol

Thanks, Miki.  So glad you keep checking on me.

Annette, I'm happy to help you out!  The post competition weeks are the hardest.  You worked your butt off for your competition.  You deserve a little break.  Don't be hard on yourself, but keep it somewhat controlled, too.  You will figure this out and you will look even better in the end.

MC, thanks for that tip.  That would help mix it up some.  I could run outside for about twice the time as I can on the treadmill.  I will adjust to the treadmill and then running outside is hard.  I do get bored on the treadmill and start whining in my head though.  I think mixing it up would help.  I know HIIT helps, but I don't always have the drive to do that.  That can wear you down pretty quick when that's the only cardio method you use.

I posted a baked protein bar in the recipes thread.  It travels very well.  You can put peanut butter on it if your macros allow more fat.  The macros per bar come out to 20/25/2, I think.

I hope you realize that you are winning by merely falling off the wagon AND GETTING RIGHT BACK ON!  That is what defines a winner.  You will succeed when that becomes your habit.  And it will get easier.  One tip that helps me when I find I have too many days in a row of extra nibbling or struggling, is to take a day/afternoon, whatever and go shop or just do something out of my normal routine.  Something that takes me away from extra food.  That one day will bump my weight and make me feel thin and then I'm extra motivated to keep it going.  I think you're doing great, Jane.  I've really been learning from your off season and how to handle better variety and treats while making them fit into your macros.

Topic: Summerset...Going for the Gold

Thanks, Annette!  I've made some really good progress with my upper body since working with Sean.  It's really taking on a great shape.  I felt strong yesterday.

Shellie, I'm with ya.  I'm in denial over the holidays, too.  More frickin' money spending.  My kids are getting older now and everything they want costs a fortune!

Kitchen is coming along.  I have NOTHING in it!  whoohooo!!  My stairway is now enclosed and framed for my pantry/wine area.  My house is covered in dust and it really irritated my sinuses/cold last night.

I had to get online for some tech support this morning.  I ran late, finally left the guy to my computer...remote access thing.  My husband was able to take kids to school, thank goodness.  I jumped on the treadmill in my new little basement apartment (that is full of gated kitty and a dog).  Halfway through my run I hear the workers come in.  That's ok, the kitchen is upstairs.  THen I hear them talking to me.  My back is to them.  Sorry, do what you gotta do, don't let the dog out, I'm not stopping my cardio now!  lol  THat was a little awkward, but I guess no different than running at the gym except the people around me were working, not exercising.  lol  My life is soooo crazy!

On the flip side, I managed to run the entire 30 minutes on my treadmill.  I normally only do about 15 before I give up.  I was so busy worried about the dog pooping or peeing on the floor and checking on her every minutes, then the workers setting up shop around me looking for electrical stuff that the time just flew by!

On the diet front, diet went very well yesterday.  I stayed on target and my weight dropped almost 2 lbs.  I'm so happy to get the weekend water weight off. Joe seems to think I may hit 137 by week's end.  I won't hold my breath, but that would be so nice!
