Topic: Jan Tana Posing Gel vs Pam Just wanted to get a feel for what people suggest as being the better of the two for really bringing all the muscles to light. I've heard Pam Cooking Spray is good from two people so far, but i've also heard good things about Jan Tana's Posing Gel. Which would you recommend? Sean |

Topic: My run for glory Sean, Yeah, no kidding. Not only is our names the same, but their both spelled the same too. :) I can tell you that i already feel a difference in the range of motion since i've started the exercises and stretches! There are quite a few stretches that you do 1-2x daily and then exercises with rubber tubing 3-4x a week. If you'd like i can scan them in and email them to you...? They all have pictures, so unless you are familiar with the names of the exercises, it's probably best to see the photos as well. Let me know. It would probably be easier to refer to me on this site as my last name, seeing as there are two of us and i'm so used to being called by my last name anyway. :)
My last name is so easy to remember because you only have to hear it once to have it burned into your mind. It's Godown, that's right pronounced (Go-down). I'm sure i've just opened up the flood gates for jokes, but that's ok. To to be honest, i challange anyone to PLEASE come up with something that i haven't already heard for the last 27 years. LOL. Topic: My run for glory It's been too long since i've last posted and a lot to report since the last time. Well my trip to Spain has come and gone. I managed to get a cold that lasted 10 days, get the flu and aggrivate my shoulder to the point that i couldn't lift it above 90 degrees. I was heavy lifting in Spain and all of a sudden, boom i felt this sharp pain. It hurt extrememly bad. I had struggled through the page for a few more days and then got to the point where i said, "That's it!, I'm laying off the gym for the time being to let my shoulder heal". And i thought, "well, if i can't go to the gym when i'm training for a competition, what's the point in even being in the competition?" So, i made a decision to drop the diet, contest and gym altogether for the better of my shoulder. When i expressed my views to Joe that i thought it would be best to back out of the competition, he motiviated me to stay in it and do some other exercises. I layed off the gym and diet until i return back here in Germany. Although i did manage to still eat pretty good, it wasn't the strict diet that i had been on. I started back in the gym this Mon., back on the diet and back with more inspiration to do this contest than before! I went to physical therapy to have my shoulder checked out and it turns out that i have a rotator cuff tendenitis and the doc gave me some strength exercises to do for the time being. Good thing is, he didn't tell me to lay off the weight lifting...so that's good news. Hopefully my shoulder heals back up and i can get back to my normal workout routine again cause i sure do miss it! Sean |

Topic: Website Comments Brian, Is there anyway to make photos bigger? For example if i wanted to click the thumbnail of someone's photo in the "Team Klemczewski" to enlarge it would that be possible, or even to enlarge Avatars? There are some great photos show here, but due to the small thumbnail size, it makes them really hard to see. Just a thought... Sean |

Topic: Long flights and food not allowed? Liberty, Great advise! I too have recently gone on some trips over to Austria and have taken that soft cooler as well. It was a blessing to have and a great idea to bring along on the trip to keep my food nice and fresh. I may have to do that on the trip as well and yes i was thinking that you could buy whatever you want once you get past the security checkpoint. That's a good thing! I didn't know they had cooked brown rice paks and canned salmon. I'll have to check them out. Of course our base store is no Supermarket we have back in the states, but it's got an ok selection. Hopefully they have those items and i just never saw them because i didn't know they existed... Again, thanks for the response and the super advise! -Sean |

Topic: Long flights and food not allowed? Just an update as to the food and beverage situation on aircraft. I just got off the phone with the airlines to get the specifics. Thanks for the advise Sean! They said that food is no problem to bring aboard the aircraft. However, liquids are the issue at hand. You can have water, but no more than 100ml. Otherwise they will make you drink it in front of them or throw it out. Just thought that i would give you guys the scoop in the event that you all have to travel. This was a big concern of mine getting ready for this competition. -Sean |

Topic: Long flights and food not allowed? I have heard rumors stating that you can no longer bring food or drink aboard aircrafts anymore, unless it's baby formula, baby food or milk, etc. But as far as drinks and food go for passengers it is no longer aloud. I know there was a passenger that was caught with a bottle with contents in it to make a liquid bomb and they had put some regulations in place. But does anyone know if they have lifted this "no food no drink" rule? Or if it even exists? If it does exist and you can't bring food and drinks aboard the aircraft, what would one recommend that someone does if they have a 10-12 hour flight? One person told me that you should fast through the whole plane ride and take multi vitamins every 4 hours and drink LOTS of water (2 gallons). The other thing this person told me is you should pig out 3 days out from your flight and then fast the whole plane ride. Is there any truth to this? Any advise would be helpful at this point as I have to take a couple of flights between 6-12 hours long each within the next few months. Thanks for your help. -Sean |

Topic: My run for glory Mike-I will be bringing all the key essentials with me, trust me on this one! I'll be packing my protein powder, bars and everything else i can fit in my backpack. I'll buy the food once i land as i'm going to be there for 2 weeks. It won't be so bad when my in-laws are trying to gorge me for two weeks. I've been disciplined thus far and I know i'm strong enough to carry it the rest of the way.
Joe- Yes i am fly commercial, hopefully they allow me to take my protein powder on board...? Seeing as it won't be labeled, it's just going to look like a fine whiteish, strawberryish powder. If they don't allow me then i'll have to head somewhere as soon as i land and buy everything again.
The only thing i'm worried about is there is a good chance i'll be going to Kuwait for 5-6 days in late Feb to early Mar. for a course. I'm just afraid of not having a kitchen in my barracks room to be able to cook...Then what do i do??? |

Topic: My run for glory Tonia, you look FANTASTIC! I wish you much luck in obtaining your goal for your Pro card. As for me, I'm not at that level at this time nor have an interest as of yet. I'm taking baby steps at the moment. All this is new to me and I'm competing in some local German contests and than the 2007 European Armed Forces Contest in Oct. I'll let you all know how my progress is going. Thank you for rooting me on it's a great feeling to know there are people out there who have overcome the same hurdles as I've stumbled on for years. Thanks for your kind words Tonia!
Is "Eye of the tiger" your posing song too? |

Topic: My run for glory Dr. Joe, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm still messing around with it. I just found out that for the last two days I was eating less than the 6oz of chicken at my meals. I was under the assumption that they were 6oz that I was eating, but i went to measure them this morning and found out they were about 3.5-4.0oz. I'm tracking now and I'll be on target from here on out.

Topic: My run for glory Hello everyone! This is it, I'm taking a shot at seeing how I can do in a body building contest. I've never entered one before, so everything is brand new to me, from posing (need LOTS of help), to dieting (Thanks JOE!) to just down right mentally preparing me for it. So far my diet is going ok. Although there are times that i wish i was eating more. :), but i guess they wouldn't call it a diet and i would get shredded then.
I'm currentlyeating on a 275g Protien, 175g Carb, and 40g Fat intake a day with a spike in carbs to 250g on Wed. and another spike in carbs to 350g and a decrease in protien to 200g.
I started yesterday, 06Nov06 and weigh in at 224lbs at 17% BF. My contest is April 14th, with another one following in May and the big one in Oct. It's hard to imagine what i'll look like leading up to the April contest, but i'm excited to say the least. I am a little nervous of the holidays coming up though and going to Spain to see the in-laws. That is a reciepe for disaster!
I'll let you know how it goes as I progress through these next several months!

Topic: Introductions! It's finally great to fit into a community of interest! My name is Sean, I'm 27 yrs. old, been married for 5 yrs. to my Spanish wife, we have a 19 month old daugher, Norel. I'm in the Navy stationed overseas in Germany. I've been hitting the gym pretty regularly now for 7 yrs. some times on and off due to my job and my schedule. Although, since i've been here i've been able to get back into it full time like the way i wanted. I've always been interested in bodybuilding...sort of...Sure i can throw around the weights all day long and eat to feed the muscles and try to grow, but i know NOTHING of what it takes to get shredded and what i need to do to get ready for a competition. I heard about Joe through a friend of mine who has been competiting now for over 17 yrs. and has used Dr. Joe to help him prepare for the contests for a number of years.
I think i've tried just about everything out there to get bigger (legally!) and it just has no effect on me, that or i'm doing something REALLY wrong. So, i thought i would enter in a contest here in Germany in April with Joe in my corner just to see how i would do and then work on any improvements for the one in Oct. I'm really excited to start on the peak performance program with Joe. I can't wait to see the results start to happen before me and finally see an end product at competition time!
I'm glad this forum is here and from what i've read through some of your posts a lot of you seem to know a lot about this sport, much more than i do that's for sure. I hope to talk to you all at some point.
