Topic: Team K site or E Harmony?

Joe........I need to hire your travel agent.  My husband and I are flying out of E'ville in March to go see his parents.  I bet it has been a good 8 years since I have flown out of E'ville.  Louisville, to me, is a very easy drive, I have never had any trouble with "long check-ins" and in all the times I have flown out of Louisville it has always been a ton cheaper (even when paying to leave my car in the lot.)  I do admit it would be nice to be able to get off the plane and be home in 5 mins.  But with the speed limit increase to 70mph on I-64, it just seems like you "fly" home Sealed

Thanks Funda.  I keep waiting for Sean to announce the date of the big E'ville show.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to compete.  August will give me plenty of time to prep.  I will be sure to keep you posted.  I am going to give it the 'ole college try......should have started this sport when I was much, much younger!  Embarassed

I'm with you Jen........me and bugs just don't get along.  When my husband and I go to NY we stay with family, but they are a LONG way away from NYC.  Complete opposite end of the state.  Can't say I have experienced the bug thing, but then again, I have not had to stay in a hotel in NYC.

Funda.....I am not coming to NY.  I would love to be there, but I just can't swing it.  Have to have time to visit the step-daughter at college.  I have not been on stage yet, but am trying to find a show to do.  I am not at the caliber of everyone else on the forum but I am working towards competing sometime next year.  Sorry for the confusion.  I have a tendancy to do that to people since I type much slower than my mind thinks.  I can't wait to hear all the progress reports and see the pics.

Now Funda.....you have nothing to be scared of, my biceps are not 13" YET.  Money mouth  The farmers walk is when you carry the heaviest dumb bells you can possibly lift and then you walk with them.  Once you put them down, you feel like you are going to float away.  Gotta try it sometime.  I tried to get Sean to try it with some of us when he first came to town but he wasn't a taker.  I will just have to try harder......

Congrats Sean and Funda......it's a little late for this trip but a piece of advise when trying to travel in and out of good ole Evans"thrill".  You may have more luck using the Louisville airport.  Cheaper fares, more options on flights, and only about an hour and 45 min drive......all interstate.  My husband and I us the Louisville airport for all most all of our travels.  Check things out on Orbitz, Travelocity, or even Southwest websites.

Best of luck to you both!

Topic: Martha's proposition

Ok......I certainly hope I don't regret this!  I have a proposition for you Gunshow.  This will include some work on your part too.  I will make you a deal that IF I can have a "train the trainer day", this will need to include you, T-Mas, Bobbie, and Sean, then I will let you prep me to compete sometime first quarter 2008.  As long as Dr. Joe will take care of the diet and finding a reasonable show for me.  Oh, one more thing Gunshow, I want a second "train the trainer day" when I am about 10 weeks out from the show.  Any takers?

Topic: A sick significant other while dieting

Jerry......even though I am not a BB I wanted to weigh in on this topic.  My husband has MS and sicknesses are a constant worry for us because his immune system is not what most peoples are.  One thing we do when one of us gets sick is that the other one will sleep in the spare bedroom.  I don't know if that is an option for you, but it really seems to help us out.  I don't feel it is selfish of you in the least and I truly believe Amanda would feel really bad if you got sick again.  Add some Vit C for a couple of weeks and be sure to wash your hands as often as possible.  You should be good to go.

Topic: Post-Contest Blues

Funda.......for what it is worth I too would like to thank you for posting this thread.  As a non-BB, it is very encouraging to know that you "professionals" struggle just the same way all of us "normal" people do with weight loss and gain.  I can't begin to tell you how much you sharing your difficulties inspires me to keep moving forward.  I have not had access to this forum for the past couple of weeks and I have to admit, I really did miss it.  I want my life to be surrounded by positive influences and this is definitely the place to get that.  Even when you are feeling blue, someone here will always pick you up!

You guys are great.  I am soooo not creative like that either Julie.  Jan, just got home around 9 last night.  So glad you signed on for a year with Jim.  It will make an incredible difference to your recovery.  Even though we workout with different trainers doesn't mean we can't meet up sometime.  Feel free to e-mail me anytime  (m.yando@insightbb.com).  I was able to get up the plane stairs, but the third set of the day was really tough.  Alaska was abs--olutely (sorry Mary, just had to borrow that one from you) beautiful.  The show down with my sister went very well.  She is down 70 lbs with the assistance of gastric bypass and I have to say she is jealous that she is not as lean as I am.  I am down 40 lbs by the awesome assistance of Dr. Joe and Gunshow.  It was very interesting to compare eating and exercising habits with my sister......big, big differences, yet still some similarities.  I will post up some other pictures in a few days.

Topic: Goodbye, Shannon, our friend...

Joe.....I am very sorry for your loss of a truly wonderful friend.  I have to say, it is people like Shannon that make me proud to work in the field of Oncology.  I have the privilege to meet people just like Shannon every day.  Cancer is a terrible disease,  but the people that are stricken with it are very inspirational people.  They teach you how special life truly is, they appreciate every day they have, and they teach us how truly important faith is.  My thoughts and prayers are with all the people that Shannon has touched in her very short lifetime.  She will be missed but her goodness will shine through in all that knew her.

OK......note to self....NEVER, NEVER trash talk the trainer before you are scheduled for a workout.  OOOOUUUUCCCCHHHHH  Sealed  I don't know if I am going to be able to climb the stairs to get on the airplane tomorrow.  I think Gunshow got 2 weeks worth of training in all in ONE day!

Hey Jan.......welcome back!  I am so glad things went well with the surgery.  Just remember to take is easy and not to over do.

Jim keeps trying to hit me really hard with these workouts but he hasn't outdone me yet.  Maybe he is just taking pitty on me right now since I am leaving to see my sister on Sat.  Or maybe he is waiting for Sean to make it to Evans"thrill" so they can gang up on me.  Maybe then they will both be game for a "train the trainer" day.  SurprisedI have made lots of progress and am thrilled.  Jim has the "before" pictures of myself and my sister (the pre transformations.)  I will post some pictures when I get back of the 2 of us and everyone can be the judge as to who looks better.  Foot in mouth  Be kind everyone!!

Topic: Training the female client

Craig......you and Sean are right on the money with the way to train women.  I know that for a fact (now that is).  As a non-BB person, I have to admit that I fell into the mindset of "working those problem areas."  I have enough faith and trust in my trainer to understand why that is a myth.  I guess my point is, that as personal trainers, you have a hugh brick wall to crash through.  Unfortunately, the norm of society is get something for as little work and effort as possible.  I completely understand and agree with what you are saying, however, I truly believe your challenge is how to convince more people.  With all the TV, magazine, and radio ads on how to "get rid of the belly flab with this contraption."  All the thigh masters, ab loungers, butt tighteners........it is virtually impossible for the every day person to not buy into the theory that they don't need a personal trainer.  They can do it themselves.  Heck, even the new diet pill Alli.....it is the talk of several women in my office.  I just shake my head and wonder how in the world to convince them that is NOT the answer.  I don't know if this helps you in any way, but hopefully it at least gives you food for thought.

I am not trying to earn any "brownie points", don't have to as long as that big ole hunk of chocolate is still in the freezer....Innocent.  I know how much you enjoy the name calling we give you and I don't see it stopping any time soon.  I also know you are not going to kill me too bad since I am leaving for vacation next week.  You PROMISED you would not hurt me to the point I couldn't enjoy my time with my sis.  I am going to hold you to that!

Sorry for kidnapping your thred here Jerry!!

You guys are killing me!  Yes Kristen, Jim told me about the Lindsey Wagner thing...I just had to laugh.  You are right, Jim is a GREAT trainer and Tony is too for that matter.  I couldn't see myself going to anyone other than these guys.  I can't believe the progress I have made and am looking forward to what Jim is going to dish out in the future.  I hope to meet you soon in the gym.  This time of year is difficult with summer in full swing and vacations.  Don't you worry though, we will have a chance to meet and swap stories!  Look out Tony and Jim.....your ears will be burning!

Jim, thanks so much for "putting your money on me".  I will have to look for the Bionic sound effects for us to use in the gym next time.  Sealed  Then we will really see how old I feel when everyone asks, "What's that noise?"

Here you go Kristen.......this Avitar is just for you.  It seems I am "showing my age" by having a picture of the Bionic Woman as my hero.  I guess not many people remember Lindsey Wagner and Lee Majors in the Bionic Woman and the 6 Million Dollar Man from the 70's.  Surprised  Geez, I really do feel old.  This is a true picture of me before I started working with Gunshow.  I will be having my "show down" with my sister in less than 2 weeks and I will post new pictures at that time.

Sean, you are on.  I LOVE peanut butter, that's why I can't have it in my house.  I could easily sit down and consume an entire jar no problem.

Shellie, if you want a PB pie recipe, I have one for you that is heavenly.  You probably won't want to let Joe know about it though because we both would get in big time trouble for eating it.  It is not a "healthy" version.  Laughing  Heck, my weight just went back up a lb thinking about it.

Well Gunshow, you better got to work on that sled.  I just got back from seeing Dr. Kress and he told me to tell you to stop working me sooo dang hard.  I did pull the hip-flexer this morning Yell.  You will literally have to carry me out next time.

Joe.........thanks for the warning about Cordova, I will be sure to stay away from him when there is food to be consumed.  I don't like pit bulls so it shouldn't be a problem to get out of his way (nothing personal there Jim).  Guess I will have to make a note to also stay away from Sean during the consumption process.  I tell you what Sean, I will sit at the other end of the table and I will not go up to the bar unless you are sitting down.  LOL
