Topic: Off-Season Body Dysmorphia! Get out!! Really? 20 lbs?! Because you do look good in your avi...solid, but still lean.
As for the 10 lbs...I was referring to Pam...I am up more than that. lol I plan on getting up to about 30-35 lbs over contest during my 2 year prolonged off season, but I am going to do it slowely. I jumped up to 20-23ish lbs over real fast at first and I felt and looked like crap. so I brought it back a bit to 15-17, and now I am going to start going up slowely. Slowely is the key. I think as a bodybuilder, we tend to get heavier in the off season relative to figure competitors, but that has just been my experience. |

Topic: Off-Season Body Dysmorphia! I think it is important to remember/realize, that for most of us, it probably is NOT healthy to remain at contest weight year round. 5-10 lbs up is probably ideal for most, and even then, I am certain that at that weight we are still in better shape than 90% of the pop. wow, I think that sounded a bit smug...but I hope you know what I mean.
And Pam, I think I have seen you above contest weight...and you do look great there. |

Topic: The Front Stance in Figure From this pose alone... 3,2,1,4
based on this and the rear shot...I would have to say... again, 3,2,1,4
Unless the far left girl is just not in her pose yet, then MAYBE I would slide her into second, but her pose he is rough, and she has a lot of muscle for figure. I think that the girl in red is a clear winner based on these 2 poses.
I have also never been a fan on the one piece that the NPC/IFBB does. |

Topic: Cardio question That is true...Jow always had me take in 10-15 g of CHO before my cardio in the morning. I was calling that "fasted", I guess that was a misnomer on my part. But having CHO immediately after a cardio session is probably a bit of a waste as you were doing, as that would stop the fat burning...right Joe? It probably depends on the body type in terms of how soon after cardio you would want to have carbs...but I would think that immediately afterwards Protein and/amminos would be all. |

Topic: Cardio question Wow...56 lbs is a lot, and at 228 you actually look pretty decent. I wouldnt have thought that a 50+ lbs loss would have been needed. There is nothing wrong with fasted cardio in general, in my opinion. Joe had me doing plenty of this as I prepped for my last couple of shows. But it matters how you exectue it. Duration, intensity, pre and post nutrition, etc. In a muscle sparing sense, you want to be getting protein into you STAT post a fasted cardio session, otherwise you will lose muscle. If you are looking for a good group of folks on a board, you have come to the right place. And the info that Joe has to offer is second to none. Welcome. What are you thinking in terms offseason duration now that your show is overwith? Are you anywhere near the northeast by chance, because there are some great seminars coming up that Joe will be at among many other notable Pros that you could get a lot of questions answered by. |

Topic: Leg Press Stance I havent noticed it helping all that much with increasing depth. In fact, I am not a huge fan of doing this, as I feel it serves to pitch you forward, thus putting more shearing forces on your knees. Additionally I feel as though it makes it tougher to sit back when doing this, which causes issues with maintaining a good GC, thus, again promoting a forward motion as well as "clam shelling"
Im not overly concerned with not being able to get too far below parallel, as long as I am getting there...and as long as that hack squat is available to me...im good.
Thanks for caring though. lol |

Topic: Leg Press Stance umm...wait a sec...I never said I am not a fan of the deep squat. I just hold safety above that. If you can safely drop to the ground then go for it. Other wise I will squat as deep as I can safely go, which for me is parallel, maybe and inch lower. I used to try and squat with a narrow stance, and I looked like McCauley...couldnt get down. So I widened my stance up to the point where I can get to at least parallel. For the needs associated with a narrower stance, I prefer the hack squat, I can literally drop until I bottom out on the sled, while maintaining a safe position with my legs close together. I have tweaked my back trying to do the whole "ass to ankles" thing, and it is simply not worth it to me.
Oh crap...I am starting to sound like McCauley!!
NOOOOOOOOO.......

Topic: Napolean Dynamite umm...Mary, in the parallel to modern society...who exactly is supposed to be the vampire? Not sure I would want to be equated to a "species" that has been fabricated to portray a monster in literature.
I am sure that the show has its pros, believe me I like the whole 'violence, sex, taboo' thing...a lot! lol...but this just wasnt working for me. In my opinion it was trying to hard to be novel. Just the general concept of the show seemed deperate to me. Maybe if I had more time in my day I could pick up another show like this one. But I feel my time could be better spent.
Although, I will say this...when House first came out I completely ignored it, thought it sounded lame. Watched an episode here and there, but nothing. Then one day an episode caught me, and that was it. Perhaps the same may happen with True blood one day...but that day is not today.
oh, and Anna Paquin is killing me with her acting...I think they should change her name too...sookie?!?! seriously?? |
