Topic: Sesamin

Has anyone heard of this stuff or used it. Apparently it's derived from sesame seed oil. I have someone through my work who is RANTING AND RAVING about how he keeps losing fat and he barely changed his diet.

Normally I am very skeptical, but he says its the only thing he has used that has ever helped him so much. So, any feedback from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Topic: How do you take good progress pics?

So, Joe has asked me to start sending him progress pics along with my macro charts. Historically my bodybuilding pics have been horrendous. As a matter of fact, when I was getting ready for my last show, my posing coach had been taking pics 3 months out and all the way up to the day before the show. When he finally gave me the CD he apologized at how bad the pics were. No definition at all, I looked flat and small.

It dosen't help that I do not tan what so ever. Pro tan and dream tan takes care of that for me for the shows. So I am quite pale.

I know that there must be some certain tricks to doing the pics correctly. I have seen guys 30lbs lighter than me take pics (jsut as pale as me) and they look lean and pretty big. You see guys like that on bodyspace all the time, 5'10 at 150 and they look great.

Does anyone have some good pointers for me. I am going to start taking pics next week.

 I appreciate any help.

Hmmm....i just bought 3 bottles of Ultimate nutrition BCAA powder. It says it has some "waxy maize" in it. However it dosen't specify how much. Still claims 5 grams of BCAA per teaspoon. Haven't tasted it yet but if it didn't taste like BCAA's then I would think its major watered down. Maybe they use some kind of process that reduces the taste....i am not sure. Anyone here of something like this, I heard free form aminos are supposed to taste like tires....?

Topic: L-Leucine

Am i missing something here? I take BCAA's all the time. I use the pure powder. I mix it with my post workout shake and I have a 5 gram dose between meals. I just take a scoop toss it in my mouth and wash it down with water. Is it necessary to take it in one of these drinks (Xtend, Xtendovol etc.)? I just take it straight....is there a problem with that absorbtion wise?

I always see these guys from scivation and all that drinking it in Xtend form like its the only way to go. However pure powder seems fine. I mean I hate all those sweateners, that stuff must cathc up to you at sometime.

Anyone have some input on this? Is straight powder ok? I have been using it for a good year now.

Hey everyone I have a question. Just yesterday a client (Trainer) came into my work and took one look at my arms and said, hey dude you gotta bring up your brachialis.

What the hell is a brachialis, some kinda dinosaur. Anyhow he explains to me that it is a muscle underneath the biceps and it will help my arm look more full. I will take any advice I can get when it comes to training especially biceps training as I would say it may be my worst bodypart. Naturally Triceps are my best... what a rip off...no one cares about triceps.  

So I ask all of you, how do i train the brachiallis? Also any good bicep training tips. I have noticed over the years that all my good body parts always get sore after training (quads, triceps, back) but biceps almost never get sore, like maybe 1 outta 5 workouts. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Oops, I can single myself out and admit you must be referring to my e-mail I sent a coulple hours ago in which I use both terms. Sorry I'm fresh off reading a document that uses such terms over and over. Oh well, I will be more careful. Although all these recent posts have me laughing my head off.

Maybe if I win my next show I will make a comment like:

"I would like to thank Dr. Joe for teaching me everything there is about re-feeds and de-loads"

Ok Dr. Joe, you brought up something that may explain a few things. SPLENDA (sucralose) may be another word for the devil. You have mentioned above and on other occasions that this chemical may actually hinder weight loss.

This might explain why I have been eating pretty clean (not quite contest style) to shed a good 5 pounds and it doesent really seem to come off. I mean truly my carbs and fats are still pretty low and nothing is happening, always just fluctuating between 194-197 (contest weight last year was 170 for referrence) for over 2 months now. Although I have definatley gained muscle as my weight is up 1o pounds in 10 months and my waist only went up 1/2 and inch (at least something is goign right).

 Then I realize that sucralose (splenda) is in my MRP (meal replacement powder), in my waximaize powder i take after and during training...and in my isolate whey powder i take with the waximaize after training. Even in my extendovol, which is basicly extend here in Canada.

 Could this be sabotaging my fat loss. I have been in the bodybuildign game long enough to know when i am eating clean enough to lean out a bit, and something isnt right here. It is really ticking me off as I will be on a beach in Cuba in 3 weeks and I look ok by "NORMY" standards (non bodybuilding standards) but that just sucks to me.

 I figure I can manage it by not taking an MRP (Syntha-6 by BSN), and only using unflavored waximaize, and not taking flavored BCAA's (BCAA's straight arent bad if you drink it fast enough). Still it will be in my whey isolate, but i will only take that after training.

 

Can anyone shed some light on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have never gotten diarrhea. Dr. Joe and everyone...What is your opinion of doing the whole nutrient timing thing?  Kinda like i described in my post before this one. I was using dextrose and maltodextrine before the waxymaize thing.

 I figure I want a quick insulin response via the high glycemic carbs and aminos during and after the workout. Seems to be working..gained a good 5 or 6 pounds since april.

 And how the heck do you get away with that kinda stuff during the contest season...its allot of carbs? I'm truly worried about that...as i know it would help retain muscle mass ..however it could keep me from getting leaner.

Topic: BCAA

I started using waximaize (well its a half half mix of waxy Barley and waxy maize, they apparently have the same molecular weight...or whatever).

Just a few qustions about it. I truly appreciate help. I am doing an INBF show in March of 2009.
I use 35 grams of it with 10g BCAA and 10G Glutamine for pre and during workout (I sip it the whole time)

I then use 70 grams of it with 10 g bcaa 10g glutamine and 20 grams whey isolate for my post workout.

So my questions are:

1)Should i be mixing the waximaize with something else, Like Maltodextrin or Dextrose?

2) Is it normal for it to settle at the bottom, like it gets gritty sand like stuff at the bottom, I'm always shaking before a sip. Is that normal for waximaize?

3) Do you take this stuff during or after doing a Hiit cardio session?

Hypertrophy: 2 minutes for large bodyparts, 1.5 mins for smaller bodyparts.

 

Core strength: 4 mins large muscs and 3 mins small muscs.

 

Works well hurts like hell.

Topic: So what the heck is Waximaize?

I am hearing things about waximaize carbs lately? Does anyone have any experience with this? What is it...what does it do? when do i take it? How much and when?

 From what I can tell, its a post workout carb. I currently take a mix of 20 grams whey, 10 grams glutamine, 10 grams BCAA, 20 grams maltodextrin, 40 grams dextrose.

During my workout i sip on extendovol (similar to extend...we don't get scivation in Canada)

 

I figure waximaize would substitute the dextrose and or malto...not sure...

So please if any knowledgeable folks out there can help me please enlighten me.

Hey Sean. I am about 5.7 and 3/4....competed last april at a little over 170. for the life of me though I can't remember how much I went through. Something makes me think I put too much on because my colour was sginificantly different from those who used dream Tan #2. By the way, does anyone use dream tan #1?

Topic: Tanning

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting. I had to sign up after reading these threads all the time and getting all kinds of great information.

 So from what I am reading here, is pro-tan obsolete? It seems you guys really like dream tan spray. My last show I used 3 coats of protan and the morning of the show i used a coat of dream tan #2. So it dream tan spray really that much netter?

Also, I don't tan at all. In the end however I looked bronzed, maybe a little too much, it may have taken from my definition. How much of the little tub of Dream Tan #2 should you go through if you aply once?
