lucas- where you day dreaming in class again???

yeah that makes sense because if you think about it, if you get 300cho a day you'd have to eat 15 meals a day!!!

no realistic or productive..you'd be eating too much and too often to take into body fat. i think lucas will be studying the film now! LOL :)

Topic: MOT's journey to uncover the muscle

michele- you might have to get 2 weeks under your belt before you will see how things go with the high carb days. you really need 2 weeks for everything to stabilize and get some consistancy...as you have seen with the first wk and your blood sugar leveling off and things getting easier w/ hunger etc.. solid week's worth of progress..and it's only going to get better.

you are in a better spot than you think annette...joe will probably stabilize you for a while and not change anything major..you have a TON of time!

7-8 lbs is not a lot. your mind is right in think that you just need to listen to the plan and go from there.

hey don't you worry about waist issue....it's a pain in the A$$ to find pants...trust me...anyone with a sub 29 inch waist will find it tough to fit their legs and butt into them..they are made for little girls....LOL. all my pants have to be a 32 waist just to get into them, and then it's belt time, thank god for belts.

on a serious note, i'm glad you find me a value around here, it is what keeps me going to tell you the truth. i'm sure you can relate, ever since i stepped away from the stage for good i feel a little lost....i go around wandering aimlessly looking for young eager and talented BBer's to help out and live vicariously through. i love this sport and always will. i feel as if i have a good amount of knowledge to pass on to the other competitors, esp the first timers....they are always so eager and hungry!! being apart of such a great group is amazing..i'm glad to be apart of the team

Michelle- you will always find that the first few days or week of dieting is the hardest and toughest..but once you get some stability with blood sugar, your body etc next week should be easy. but i know you guys are tough..so no worry there.

it's a social media site, so you are going to have some junk,  but i think the majority of it is good. i use it to talk to old friends, alumni and business partners...you just have to be selective to who you invite and select as friends. i personally reconnected with a TON of old friends and alumni, and found out some actually lived here in chicago...it's been pretty cool. but i do feel blessed joe invited me to his friend...awe shucks! :)

annette- i tend to agree w/ mot and tori....seriously think about it. just check out the progress mot made this yr with a controlled calculated offseason. ask joe and nock the idea around. sometime we fall in love with being in show shape and want to shoot for it all the time and that is not realistic...but just think about it and let us know what you are thinking? all the best

Topic: Muscle Fiber Test

VP- I can personally comment on Max OT training. it is a solid training program and i made some solid gains from it yr to yr. the positives that i took away from it was that it was progressive in nature, in that you always strived to do more reps or add more weight. therefore it made you push harder in the gym and thus get more results. It also did a half way decent job of emphasizing recovery. they recommend 1 body part trained per wk(you can train anywhere from 3 to 5 dys/wk depending on your choice), and 1 wk off of training every 8-12wks. the way i view it is that Max OT is similar to dr. joes power week, in which you focus more on compound exercises and always trying to lift more weight workout to workout. the HUGE difference is that joe's NLP factors in high intensity wks to hit failure and intensity in middle rep ranges, using more intensity techniques, supersets, drops, yo-yo etc. this also serves as active recovery because while it is high intensity, it doesn't take as long as to recover, for example if you were to do squats...that takes longer to recover from then say a drop set of leg ext.

the bottomline i guess is to look into NLP...it's the best of both worlds..strength and intensity!

Char- you are fine, you are doing it perfect. just make sure you are following that up with a shake(just protein) to stop the muscle breakdown but continue the fat burning. at least that is what  joe recommends for me. i'm sure he'll correct if necessary. hope that helps

Topic: INBF/WNBF and NANBF have chosen to part ways

just for everyone to read:

NANBF/OCB/IFPA Affiliation Announcement

Dear competitors,

Please note the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation (NANBF) is no longer affiliated with the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF). The NANBF will now serve as an amateur affiliate of the International Fitness & Physique Association (IFPA) pro federation. Fred Rowlett, representative of the NANBF, and Matt Shepley, representative of the Organization of Competitive Bodybuilders (OCB), will now be serving as Co-Chairman of the IFPA.

2011?!?! i am pretty sure i'll have grey hair by then..no.. i'm just kidding. i'm glad that you have things planned out and it is def the right decision. the toughest part is going to be keeping the intensity high over that long of a period of time. it is amazing to think how your life goals have changed..you went from a guy trying to lose weight and stay healthy, to doing a bbing comp..to totally changing your perspective and gunning for a masters pro card...truly amazing and inspirational....awesome!!... keep us posted...
