Topic: St. Louis NANBF Show Oct. 25th It's getting close to the 3rd Annual Gateway Naturals. This year's show is Saturday OCTOBER 25th in O'Fallon, MO (about 30min. west of downtown St. Louis). I could not co-promote this event this year as I just had too much going on with having a 4 1/2 mo. old son. But we are expecting around 60+ competitors and another sold out crowd. If you can make it, please come support another great Natural event. For more information please go to www.musclestl.com or email me at naturalhfc@yahoo.com. I will be there as one of the judges, so if you attend please stop by and say hi. Thanks, Chad T. |

Topic: JC - Going deep into the off season Jordan/Graig, Yeah the little one (Warner) is awesome. Fatherhood is great! It is the hardest thing I've ever done, but also the greatest thing I've ever done. As for the training, I switched to Joe's 3 Day NLP split at the gym, with 1-2 days of LIT/HIT cardio at home to be able to have plenty of time at home with the family. It has seemed to work pretty good. I'm only about 8-10lbs. over my last contest weight. I was going to post a recent pic, but after your show pics I decided that wouldn't be a good idea! Graig, I'll try to call you later today. Jordan, I'll let you know if I'm going to make it to KC. Good hearing from you both. Take care, Chad T. |

Topic: JC - Going deep into the off season Jordan, Long time no see. I just was checking the thread after a long hiatus (I have a 12wk old)to see how Joe's show went. Pics looked awesome, and congrats on the 3rd place finish! Not sure if I'm going to make it to KC or not, but best of luck if I don't see you. Chad T. |

Topic: WNBF PRO AMERICAN & INBF NORTHEAST CLASSIC Thanks Julie. KB, Wow wasn't expecting to read that. Your avatar is not close enough to recognize you. That's Jake's gym in the background of the Avatar isn't it? How are you & Jake doing? I'm so glad you read Joe's book. Joe is awesome, as I'm sure you know if you have read anything on his website. It was a great experience peaking with him. I just reread your posts to see that you are competing in Peoria in May. If my wife wasn't expecting, we would come up for the show. Just saw your progress pic, now I recognize you. Didn't You & Jake meet Me & a friend for lunch last time I was in town? I've told so many people about Dr. Joe and that was quite awhile ago, but I think I remember talking to you guys about it then. Good luck, and tell Jake I said hello. Chad T. |

Topic: WNBF PRO AMERICAN & INBF NORTHEAST CLASSIC Going to try and post a couple of Pics. This first one was the top 3 winners in my class for the Missouri Physique. Winner in the middle(Who also won the overall Missouri & Southern States), To the left was the 2nd place for the Mens Open Missouri, 1st place for the Men's Med-Tall class that battled with Brad and the aforementioned winner for the overall, and won his pro card in the Masters Div. that night. I am on the right. In the 2nd Pic, the guy on the left was the 2nd place winner of the Men's Open Tall Southern States, the 1st place winner was the same guy from the first pic in the teal trunks(not pictured in the second pic). I am in the middle. The next 2 pics are from the morning before the show. The final is from my performance at the night show. Chad T. |

Topic: WNBF PRO AMERICAN & INBF NORTHEAST CLASSIC Brad, Although, I really wanted to diet for another couple of weeks, work on my posing/presentation and then do the Iowa and/or the Super Pro Qualifier in Kankakee. My wife is due with our first child in the next couple of weeks, so I have decided to shut it down for the year. So my plan now is going to be to stay lean, add some muscle, enjoy my summer, Love being a Dad, and then shoot for a card next spring. Shellie, I just saw your avatar, I can't believe that's you. You look great. You've come a long way since camp. It's great to see. Chad T.

Topic: WNBF PRO AMERICAN & INBF NORTHEAST CLASSIC Brad, Just wanted to say that it was a pleasure meeting you in Liberty. You looked great, and I definitely learned something from watching your effortless posing and reviewing the pictures. I think it's great that you are continuing your quest for the Card. I'm sure you'll get it soon, and then you will be able to look back and know that you really earned it. Make sure you are enjoying this ride while you're on it. Best of luck, and I look forward to running into you again in the future. Chad T. |

Topic: Deadlifting and the Tibia Jordan, Yeah I was pulling them from below the knee when I first moved to the rack. But after switching them from 2nd to 3rd pin (at my gym), or knee high, I really like it a lot better. As for training, things are going great. Going through my first peak week with Joe this week, as I am competing this weekend in Liberty, MO. It's truly unbelievable how great I feel leading up to the show. I hope all is well with you. Catch you later. Chad T. |

Topic: Deadlifting and the Tibia Jordan, Maybe try just pulling them off the rack around knee high. I started doing this after having a couple of herniated discs & sacro-illiacitis. I really feel like I can isolate much better in my back, especially the heavier sets. When I used to pull from the floor, I knew I was having to pull with every muscle in my body on my heavy sets. Not only did I feel this too much in my legs, but I had to start wearing my old soccer shin guards under my pants to keep from tearing my legs & knees to shreds. I don't think I'll ever pull anything from the floor again. I also like doing the sumo squats like Joe mentioned with lighter weight on my high intensity weeks. Chad T. |

Topic: NANBF Test Judge Opp. Anybody interested in being a judge for NANBF take note. As some of you know, I co-promote the Gateway Naturals Classic in O'Fallon, MO in Oct. We are looking for someone that would like to be a judge for our show to go to Liberty on April 19th to Test Judge. If you pass the test, you will become a NANBF judge and you could come to St. Louis to judge our show in Oct. You would get to see a great two days in Liberty, and you wouldn't have to pay for your admission. Also, you could get the competitor discount of $60 on the hotel rooms. You would also be able to judge other NANBF shows. Additionally, judging really gives you a new perspective on competing. Sean, if you haven't done this yet, this would be a great opportunity if you could swing it. Anyone that is interested can email me at naturalhfc@yahoo.com. Thanks, Chad T. |

Topic: Calve Training I'm sure you'll get a lot of great advice in the forthcoming responses. But one thing I have been doing lately that has really worked well is using a smith machine on my high intensity days for calf raises. Stack up 3 plates on the floor to use as your base to stand on, then do your standing calf raises on these. You can get a great full stretch, you can go heavy with the safety of the Smith machine, and you can also easily drop set on the Smith.

Topic: So what the heck is Waximaize? Just started taking this myself, as I have been taking Dex pre & post for quite awhile. I was doing some research before I decided to try a container and this is one of the exerts I found. Hope it helps. So what’s so special with Waxy Maize in comparison to dextrose or maltodextrin? Many people have used a mix of dextrose and maltodextrin for post workout nutrition for years because it works and is vital for proper glycogen replenishment. Welcome to the new era of post workout nutrition… Waxy Maize Starch. WMS has a much higher molecular weight and a much lower osmolarity rate compared to dextrose or maltodextrin, so what does this mean… Mainly, WMS bypasses the stomach, is absorbed by the intestines and immediately is assimilated; this is all done at a much faster rate than dextrose or maltodextrin, almost double. WMS can help the absorption rates of many of your favorite supplements like creatine monohydrate, creatine ethyl ester, cell volumization and nitric oxide type supplements, etc. Nutrients like this often times are left in the stomachs harsh acidic environment and degrade absorption rates. WMS helps shuttle these nutrients to bypass the stomach and allow the body to assimilate these nutrients at a much higher rate. WMS has the ability to replenish the body’s glycogen stores much faster than a mix of maltodextrin or dextrose. This is accomplished again by WMS’s ability to bypass the stomach and go to the intestines for immediate absorption. WMS’s ability to shuttle all these nutrients and starch gives the body an immediate "pump" you can physically feel in your muscles post workout. You will see a much larger, fuller and rounder muscle belly. Dextrose and maltodextrin can cause water retention and bloating, hence WMS’s popularity with pre contest and contest preparation carbohydrate replenishment. Many dieters choose WMS as their carb of choice as it is sugar free and an ideal source of a long chain complex carbohydrate. Chad T. |

Topic: Fantasy Camp 2008 Thanks Funda & Shellie for posting your pics up, I really wish I would have brought a camera. It was really great getting to meet all of you, and I am so happy I went. It was a great way to begin my contest prep for my April show. The pro's were great, world class, and so easy to talk with and you could really pick their brains about anything and everything. I don't know when I have ever learned so much in such a short period of time. I only wish I was smarter, so that I could have retained a little more. As for the rest of the campers, it was a great mix of folks, I only wish the camp would have been longer so that we could of spent a little more time together. Take care, best of luck, and look me up if your ever in the St. Louis area, or if you are going to be attending any NANBF shows in the midwest. Chad T

Do you keep that same routine for the most part during contest season?
Graig,
I've kind of started the diet. Joe cut a couple of carbs out, but I still have my cheat day for now.

Topic: St. Louis NANBF Show Oct. 13th Hey guys & gals,
This is a repost, since now we have a new thread for show announcements.
I wanted to announce for those of you who might be interested, the 2nd Annual St. Louis Gateway Naturals on Oct. 13th. My good friend Shawna Meyer, a WNBF Pro is the promoter, and my wife Maggie and I are co-promoting it with her. Fred Rowlett, who came down and helped last year, will be down again this year. For more information, you can check out our website at www.musclestl.com. Last year it was a great show, and we are hoping for another great turnout. Even if you aren't going to compete, we would love to have your support for any of you that can make it. FYI, it's not to far of a drive from Evansville guys!
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions at naturalhfc@yahoo.com
Thanks, Chad |

Topic: Dr. Joe's show? Sean,
We are having the 2nd annual Gatway Naturals Classic in St. Louis on Oct. 13th. I will repost it on this thread. If you want to come to see how things are set-up, run, etc., maybe even test judge if you aren't one already. Shawna Meyer ran it last year with Fred & Jan's help. Fred is also coming down to help out again this year, and then I am helping out as well this year. Otherwise, feel free to come to town anyway!
Can't wait to hear more about Joe's show. The more NANBF shows the better!
Sweet, I made it to 50 Posts! Now I'm only 1,977 behind Sean!

Topic: KC show is in 2 weeks! A little late on this, but I wanted to let those of you who I finally got to meet in person (Dan, Dan's girlfriend, Michael Thomas, Sean, Wayne, Nancy, Joe, Cameron, Mary) this past weekend know what a pleasure it was. Since I was test judging in the other theater, unfortunately, I wasn't able to socialize very much. Nor was I able to watch much of the competition in the main theater. It was great knowing I was a part of something like Team K though. It was very motivating to see all of those physiques in person.
I look forward to hanging a little more with those of you who will be at Fantasy Camp! I've got a lot to learn.

Topic: NLP core lift structure For my NLP Core week I personally do the 4x per week split. Back - M, Chest/Shoulders - T, Off or 20min cardio & Abs - W, Arms - TH, Legs - F. I just don't feel like I'm doing enough with 3 days, although during heavy travel weeks and such I will switch to the 3x split.
