I saw Priest with Motorhead and Black Sabbath this summer. Dio was lead for Sabbath not Ozzy.

Just ordered my tickets for Dropkick Murphys on March 6th at Roseland. I have never seen them give a bad show.

If you ever get the chance to see Social Distortion live, do it!

Topic: Favorite Powerlifting Routine

I competed as a raw lifter before bodybuilding. Much of what I used came from Ken Leistner and Bill Starr. Starr's 5x5 routine and Leistner's 50% routine seemed to work best. It was simple, but it worked.

Topic: Dead Lift - The King of Back Development

Given my history of injuries, both recent and over the past decade, I need to be careful of my neck, shoulders and lower back. The sumo and trap bar deadlift have allowed me to train my legs and lower back without aggravating these injuries. In my personal opinion, it is one of the most functional and valuable  exercises you can perform.

Part of the problem exercise analysis is the how information is viewed. Direct versus indirect stimulation. Using a single joint exercise may provide more direct stimulation to the muscle, but the amount of overload placed on the area may be greater using a multijoint exercise that involves the area along with other muscle groups.

I use the same argument with bench presses versus pushdowns for triceps. But thats another topic.

Not everyone at NB&F is anti-deadlift. :-)

Layne, Being a Red Sox fan, I am having a hard time watching the playoffs. Even my 11 year old so has jumped on the Rays bandwagon - and he was a Yankees fan! After 86 years, you can never have enough championships.

The  only way to get rid of Al Davis is with a stake and Holy water. Russell was taken no. 1 over Brady Quinn, who was ready to step in to a pro offense.

Topic: GAME ON for 2008!! MANTRAS

Not really sure. I emailed Joe a couple of months back for his opinion. It may have hit all at once or one led to the other. It was misdiagnosed last year so it wasn't getting better until I found a doctor and PT that looked at more than just the neck. Since then, I have been able to at least work around it and get off the anti-inflammatories and prednisone.

Topic: GAME ON for 2008!! MANTRAS

Prednisone bad! (my mantra)

Disc deterioration, stenosis, pinched nerve, thoracic outlet syndrome, torn labrum and detached biceps tendon.

For now, I am treating the TOS and neck with PT, but the shoulder needs surgery.

Topic: GAME ON for 2008!! MANTRAS

Hi Dan, Either way I've still finished last.

Sean, The big city is treating me well. Its a big change from personal training and now I have  to get up at 4 am to workout but its all good. I finally got another opinion on my neck and shoulder and got off the prednisone. Unfortunately, surgery is set for Sept., so I definitely won't be doing any posing!

What does age mean for an Endo? Are the changes as an Endo approaches or passes 40 different than a Ecto or Meso? How would diet & cardio be affected? Fat over 40 inquiring minds would like to know! lol

Topic: U.S. Cup Cancelled

Kansas has always been a very well run show. Everyone I have spoken to has said nothing but positive things about Fred and Jan's promotion. Being involved on the sport from the competitive side, they really try to make the show for the competitors. It is unfortunate other promoters don't share this dedication.
