Just wanted to check in to see how others' families and friends are supporting you, if at all.  Does your significant other help with meal prep, workouts, or just generally keeping your calendar free to do all these things yourself?  How about minimizing temptations... do they help with this too, or do they nosh on ice cream and cookies in front of you?

I myself have great family and friend support.  Even my co-workers are great at supporting me.  As far as food prep, my husband doesn't cook, but he is now making egg beaters.  We're taking baby steps to his cooking.  My family is its biggest support team within itself.  We always have been.  My husband, myself and my youngest son are all competing, but my oldest son and his wife are great supporters too along with my other daughter-in-law.  I'm the type of person that either you support me or you don't and if you don't then I don't want you around or I won't put up with the smartass comments.  I don't tend to sugar coat anything, so everyone always knows where they stand with me.

Are you competing in Joe and Sean's August show?  You need to start a thread in the Contest thread and tell us about yourself.

I would say outside of my husband and a few friends I don't have much support.  However, the only support I need is from my husband.  I wouldn't even say I need his support, just his acceptance of my goal to compete.  I don't expect anyone to prep my meals for me or to have to alter their eating in front of me because I made the choice to take on a contest prep.  Part of my daily routine will always be scooping ice cream for my kids, making yummy meals for my husband that I won't be eating and I am OK with that.  I would never pursue any of this if I thought anyone would have to alter their behaviors due to me, but that's just how I feel.

I don't compete but I am on the supportive side of it plus I also did Joe's transformation.  I'm Patti's daughter-in-law so I have 3 people who are competing.  Zeb and I cook together every Sunday.  We both work nights so we cook meals for all week.  We also work out and cardio together.  I tend to be the creative one with meals so I try to help come up with things he can change so he doesn't get bored with the same ol' thing every day and every week.

Since I am not competing, I still get to have cheat meals and fix any cravings I have.  When I have a craving, I leave and go get whatever it is that I want and eat it out of site of the three of them.

Outside of the family, friends just don't understand healthy living!

My family and friends have been very supportive. I've had to get used to answering a lot of questions. They all want to know what they should eat. I just tell them they have to hire Joe and he'll tell you what to do. Right now I remind them that my diet is geared for a contest and is set up for that goal. They don't seem to understand the personalized side of this program. I had many questions about cravings and the first thing I want to eat after the show. I guess that is only natural.

Hey Jen!

I love the Team K cheer squad idea! I think its awesome that you understand everything, also good call on eating the cheat meal out of site... That makes a lot of sense and you are right Keith they dont understand. My friends would be like "ohh you can have a little, and say everything in moteration"... LOL I reply well if it fit in my Macro numbers, then maybe!

Anyway I will be on this supportive thread a lot and hopefully figure out how to post progress photos on here LOL. I felt great at my last show, didnt place as high as I'd have liked, so im working HARDER for this next one... OCTOBER here I come! :)
