I am looking for a natural BB competition in Tennessee. Any thoughts? Also I am wondering what you guys think about taking a year or two off from contest to put on maximum muscle. I am 19 and will be 20 in august. This will be my first show and I am wondering what you guys think about doing this show and then bulking until I can really compete? Should I post pictures? I am going to compete in a novice class for my first competition. Lemme know what you think.

Here is a pic of myself. I am 19 and use to be about 1 1/2 years ago 230lbs and overweight no muscle. I dropped to 170 and now I weigh about 200lbs. This pic isn't current. Taken a few weeks ago. I dunno if there are competitions in Tennessee? Thats what I wanna know. Lucas

Hmmmm none there. I found an SNBF competition in Atlanta on Oct 4th. I am just trying to see if there are any others. I take it most competitions are in big population areas. Especially in the midwest. So what do you think about taking time off. And the pics Lucas

It's up to you. If you want to compete, do it. If you want to build muscle a year or two- go for it- you'll be better off for it in the long run.

you look like you have a decent amount of muscle for being so young (19). dan p. is your age and he got in the mix. like shellie said either take some time to grow, or jump in and get shredded. it's up to you. there is nothing like figuring out if you want to be a bber and compete like dieting and training for a show. best of luck!

Thanks, I definitely want to compete for sure. I am going to compete this October. I am going to compete in the novice class. Whats the best way to learn contest prep? I want to make sure I give myself enough time to cut up so in a week or two I will take pictures and weigh myself and you guys to give me ball parks on about how many weeks and how much fat I should drop for contest. Lucas Is Dan P. AKA sleeplifter?

Dude, just make a drive down to the Atlanta area and there are a couple of shows in the fall. There is a NGA pro-qualifier on Sept. 6th and then the SNBF on Oct. 4th. I did both of them last year and will at least do the Sept. 6th one this year. The SNBF is a great show if its your first.

Yes Graig you guys are very nice and helpful. I plan to start dieting for my OCT 4th show on June 15th or so thatll give me 16 weeks to lean out. What do you guys think? Also should I even really worry about Body fat in the offseason? I mean I am not obese or gaining alot, just some that comes with the territory. Whatcha think. If i take some pics will yall comment on what I need to do? Micky, I don't think i am ready for a pro qualifier yet :) I know you probably didn't mean that but ha ha. I will try to see if I can come down and see you compete in the pro qualifier Micky. I am excited to get into this sport. Hopefully I will do well in my novice class. I will post pics and you guys tell me how I might do. Lucas

lucas-if you are going to be competeing in the fall, it would be a smart idea to keep a close eye on the bodyfat levels. isn't really a good idea to go and gain a bunch of weight because the show isn't that far off. mickey will tell you that he is probably going to keep his weight stable right now and prep for 16 weeks. your prep time is always really based on body type and your current level conditioning when you start your diet. but more time is alwys better. the more weight you have to lose the longer you'll need so you can be ready early and increase food towards the end to be nasty hard and full. hope that helps.

Hey Graig, That does help, but I know in the bulking phase we gain some bodyfat no matter what really. I am wondering how do you know how much is optimal(best you can do) and when you are not eating enough for bulking. Basically should i put some measurements up here like Bodyfat so you guys can get an idea of how much i have to lose and if I am doing well in keeping fat low and muscle high? I don't know how much I have to lose numerically or how much it is going to take. What is the way to find out? When i take a picture here in a few days please let me know if I have too much BF or if I am ok and could bump up calories. I am just confused about what I should look like and be doing at this juncture. I know I am not going to be shredded during bulking but I know I am not suppose to be overwieght either. What is the perfect medium? What to look for? I don't know what my bodytype is persay. I use to be overweight a while ago and I am definitely not an ectomorph. I just need to get some advice on this. Lucas lemme know what info you need to estimate amount of fat I need to lose to get shredded!!!
