Hey Team K I was wondering today (as I often do),

what do other people listen to when they train?

What do other folks put on their IPOD, MP3 or

back in Joe and my day it was the Walkman.  Whatever

the equipment is what type of music gets you so

jacked up you feel like you could outsquat Tom Platz!

Ok here is some of my favorites:

80's hair metal- Motley Crue, Gn'R, Poison and so on

Heavy Metal-Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth

Oh and I'm not sure of the category but If I really feel

like I need a boost in adrenaline I have to listen to

"Walk" by Pantera!  This song will get you pumped

immediately and the tempo is steady and heavy!!!

I always put that one on for a heavy bench set and

it always helps.

80's pop: just about any song will do as I am an 80's

child and love that stuff

Rap:  Nothing hardcore really, mostly the catchy  top

40 stuff but I do have a few fav's that are a little edgy.

Country: Not alot but definitely some Johnny Cash, Waylon,

Willie, and of course Hank Jr..

So now that I've shared my music choices for my workouts I

want to know what works for you and maybe I'll find another

great choice for that last squat set where I need a little extra ummmph!

Tons of different stuff. Everything from the soundtrack of Blade Trinity(tons of techno), to Papa Roach, to Ozzy, to Oakenfold, to Def leppard, to Disturbed. Tons of stuff. The only real requirement is that the music really moves. It helps to have something good pumping in your ears.

Oh, speaking of Ipods...my shuffle just took a big dump on me today. I charged it two days ago and the battery died. Its about a year old now and I think its past its life expectancy. No big deal...I have been wanting a new one anyways...only 75 bucks. I refuse to buy anything more expensive because the gym is a high impact environment and, unlike a lot of people I see in the gym, I dont think its wise to take a 400 dollar Ipod amongst 120 pound DB's. :)

The Dropkick Murphys is a must! The heaviest sets I usually crank up "The Gauntlet" or "Warrior's Code". Old school punk like The Sex Pistols or The Clash. I'm a big metal guy too with old school Motorhead, Metallica, Thin Lizzy or Judas Priest and new stuff like Sevendust.  Industrial- Nine Inch Nails Gravity Kills or Ministry is always good for cardio.

Sounds like some great musical choices by everyone and quite

a bit of variety as well!  Not surprising I suppose is the fact that I live

in southwestern Indiana(almost kentucky) and I am the only one who

mentioned having country on my playlist.

Rich-Who are the Drop Kick Murphys?  Never heard of them, the name

is very catchy though, I will have to give them a listen.

Dropkick Murphys are a mix of old school punk, hardcore, oi and traditional Irish folk. They are based out of Boston and one of the best bands I have seen live. Its one big party! I'm going up to Boston on St. Patricks Day for their annual concert after the parade.

I have to say one of the best songs ever to workout to is Galvanize by the Chemical Brothers- if you are doing cardio- you can crank up the intensity for 6.5 min and go full force.

Also some really good ones are- Bebot- the black eyed peas, Jesus Walks- Kayne West, Kaiser Chiefs.

I have a cardio playlist and a weight playlist if anyone wants them- they may be a bit girlie :)
