I've seen everyone else and their journey look so successful, so I've decided to work on mine publically as well since most of the time I need all the support I can get! (Actually, I think Sean is getting tired of listening to me whine everyday - maybe this will take some of the workload off him!) Wink

The basics - moderately insane (ER nurse, 3/4 time grad student, part time instructor), macros (125p/100-125c/25-35f), lifting (4 days a week - twice with Sean, twice on my own), cardio (4 days a week).

Currently, I'm 5'10" and about 176-178 ish (depending on hormones, stress level, etc.), but have stayed pretty stable for about a month now (which is not making me happy at all!) I'm not sure what my BF% is: although I know it's a lot less than it used to be! My high weight was 270# a few years ago, and when I started with Dr. Joe and Sean in January, I had just busted the 200# barrier (198 I believe) for the first time in about 20 years.

For my lifting: Sean can tell you the particulars on how he beats me up (I look at it this way: he throws a boat load of weight on there and sees if I can move it a few times - if I can, he adds more weight - right Sean?) My off days lifting I usually concentrate on whatever Sean didn't tear to pieces and make hurt. Cardio is a variety, jogging (I jogged my first mile in 20 years 2 weeks ago!), walking, stationary bike, basically whatever I have at my disposal and tolerate to do for 30 minutes (my usual cardio attention spanif I'm lucky). I usually lift in the mornings and cardio in the afternoon to give my body a break, but twice a week I will cardio AM and PM. (This makes up for my weekends at work since I don't do much except for work, stress out, and sleep.)

At this point, I'd would like at attempt to meet my new weight goal (160 by mid May - if possible), but we're not even sure what my weight truly should be (Sean says there's muscle there, but no guesses on a final weight - without BF% measurement I know that puts a cramp on things), but not sure what I need to mix up to make that happen. Thoughts and ideas? I promise to update occassionally on things, but photos you may have to hunt me down and hold me down for! (That comes from a very self-conscious person who hates to look 'fat' but always has... basically, picture the skinny guy from Laurel and Hardy, add 30-50 pounds and longer hair, and you've got me!)

Jen, I think that it is great that you have decided to post your progress up on here...it will help to keep you accoutable, as well as solicit additional support.

I am sure Sean is working you ragged...he is good like that!

Mary is right, you have made some amazing progress, I look forward to the time that you have reached so many of your goals and feel comfortable to post up a pic.

Until then...keep it up, you are doing great!!

Welcome Jen.  Keep up the good work, listen to Joe, and keep letting Sean beat you up. They'll take you exactly where you need to be!  Hopefully, I'll run into you some day at their place and we can meet.

Thanks for all the support! You have no idea what it does for the obsessive, demented mind! I have no doubt that I will have photographs taken at the nursing and health care research conference that I am presenting at in April (instructors are great for that!) There will definitely be more clothing than almost 100% of the photos here, but it will be better than nothing! Cool

Jane, I talked to Sean today about his Monday/Wednesday torture sessions.  (I believe that is what he called them today.) If you go to those, I should be getting to the Wednesday ones in May after my Pharmacology class is over with, and the Mondays after my teaching gig is over in June. I found out today that he likes to talk about my derangements... which is fine, because it's all true!

Jen,

Good to have you hear on the board.  I'm a nurse too.  I like to whine about my long hours, but when I see what all you do....I guess I shouldn't whine so much!

Any kids?  A husband or significant other?

Shellie,

We are all allowed to whine.... I do it on a frequent basis and to anyone who will listen! I do most of this damage to myself, so I have no one to blame, but myself. I'm on the last of my theory classes for my Master's then on to clinicals (which will be MUCH less stressful - only one class at a time from here on out!), and teaching my last quarter (done in mid June). After that, I'll be almost normal (for the most part!) down to one job and one class... I don't know what I'll do with myself!

No husband or significant other (he went away with the excess weight and shift change to weekend option) and no kids, unless you want to count Rowdy and Peanut (maxi pinscher and dachshund). Peanut is the only thin one in the family weighing in at a robust 10 pounds and having a waist! (Rowdy is over 30 pounds and looks like a watermelon with legs with a bat face). Laughing As soon as I figure out how to get pictures from my phone to the computer (having a cell phone that does stuff other than call people is a challenge for me), I'll post them so you can see my kids.

Jen, if you read enough of these threads, you'll come to find that most of us have obsessive, demented minds, so you'll fit right in! Ha ha!

Yes, I take part in Sean's twice weekly torture sessions.  That should prove I'm demented since I actually look forward to them.  It'll be great if you can join us whenever you can.

I used to feel the same way about posting pics.  I've been posting for 3-4 months and just this week changed my avatar and posted some progress photos. Trust me, as you progress, you'll be proud of the work you have done and want to show it off.  Even if it's not perfect.  I look at those pics of me and see all the changes and the hard work, but I can also see what needs work. Which, while not pleasant, is helpful to see so you know what needs to be worked on.

Shellie, whining is allowed...especially on your own thread.  It helps with the stress of all we do.  Whine a way!

Jane

Ok, for further whining see my thread.  LOL!

Jen maybe Dr. Joe has a pet peaking program for Rowdy.  Post pictures of all 3 of you soon.  :)

Jen - we'd love to have you at our Monday and Wednesday group training.  As long as you can shoot the bird and drop the "f" bomb you'll fit in good with out group!  Whatever Sean dishes out in training we dish right back, but it's mostly verbal with a few fingers flying every once in awhile.  Sean loves it!!

Patti - I do believe that I've completed both of those with Sean already. However, we call it the New York State bird. Laughing I do believe I've also given him a few choice words at times as well. I can definitely give grief as well as I can take it. As soon as this semester ends for my classes and my teaching, I will definitely be there! It sounds like a great group of people. I've heard that Sean's already been spreading the rumors about me... I hope that he is telling the truth!

Jen -

Ha! Are you serious?   You guys call THAT bird the New York State Bird?????

I'm from New York and that lil'nugget of entertainment is the first I've heard of that.  Is that a midwestern thing?  A Sean thing?

Mary - I grew up in New York and have always called it that (especially after I went to school in Worcester). Maybe it's a Massachusetts thing (since that's where I was born and went to college the first time through). Definitely not midwestern and not Sean (he laughed since he had never heard that before!) It's probably just my warped little brain! Cool

For Shellie and the rest - I found an old picture of me that I used for my grad school ID - talk about deer in the headlights - I'm about 225 I think in this one. I'm still running from the cameras for now - As soon as I get something, I'll post for you!
