Hello.  I've been posting on the forum for a couple of weeks now.  I started with Joe one week ago.  I want to spend this next year learning, getting my weight down, building some muscle.  I'd like to compete in bodybuilding in 2008.

I started 140# 5'6".  This am I am 136#.  I am very happy with this.   Usually it takes an act of Congress to get me to 136# and an hour a day of cardio to get me to 132#.  I almost died last year to get to 127# (that was dehydrated.)

I'm looking forward to leaness in my future.

I'm married to Jamie for almost 13 years.  I have two kids; Brett is 11 and Scott is 9.  They are adorable & funny.   We live in rural SE Kansas.   I am a Registered Nurse.  I work 12 hour shifts at night now, but June 16 I go to dayshift.(You can't see me, but I'm jumping & leaping & praising God!)  It will still be 12 hours, but much easier to live on dayshift.  I just studied & passed my NESTA personal trainer certification.  I'm just starting out, we've never had a female trainer around these parts.  I am mostly training people who are just starting out & most are overweight.

I'm a novice at all this training & nutrition.   I am here to learn.

Awesome Shellie, it will be a difficult but immensely rewarding road. Harder than the physical training is the mental accuity it takes to perservere. But I suspect an RN with a demanding family life working the night shift will have no problem being mentally tough. Can't wait to hear more from you!  Welcome aboard!

Welcome and that is cool that both you and Jamie will be competing now. Good luck with the pusuit of your goals and I can relate to how happy you must feel getting off 12hr graveyard shifts. In some ways it will be easier for both of you guys staying and getting lean because you can both encourage each other and understand what you are both going through. Be careful about hardcore dieting at the same time because both of you will be tired and hungry.

Welcome Shellie,  I'm also a RN -  I just went to day shift this past year from doing noc's for over 2 yrs.  I can't tell you what a difference it make!  my husband and I also both train together and we have dieted for a show together as well---made it much easier, but we love doing this.   Enjoy the journey!   My husband is a eating machine and my middle name is hungry!

OOPS- Kmaster misunderstood.  Jamie is not competing.  Sorry if it sounded like that.  He is just starting to workout.  (I've only been at it 2 years now.)

Thanks Dan, I've realized I can do anything.  It may be hard.  But I can!

Denise, I can't wait to get on a real sleep schedule.  I know eating will be easier.

Lucky Dog, looking at your pictures, you are much more muscular than me.  But I am very glad to hear someone is my heigth & weight.  Sometimes I feel HUGE (I mean fat- not muscular) compared to other women my height with the same goals.

Hey Shellie,

Yep, I am now working alongside the good doctor. I am still up here in Des Moines but will be moving down there shortly. I am trying to get a place to live nailed down right now and once that happens, I will be down there very fast I think. There are some things I will miss up here for sure, but I feel like I am spinning my wheels to a large degree up here now that I know I need to be down there. LOL.

Well I could fill a novel with advice. LOL. Just remember the 2 cardinal rules though and you will get where you want to go:

Rule #1: Never, under any circumstance quit or deviate from the plan.

Rule #2: The only easy day was yesterday.

There you go, the Sean recipe for success. LOL.

Shellie--Here is my crystal ball reading: This Summer is going to be your best ever, and 2007 is going to be a great year for you.  The folks on this forum are some of the smartest, fittest and funniest I know.  You can consider us all a bunch of new friends.   Joe, Sean, Layne, and Jim and awesome resources.

I am eager to hear about Brett and Scott too -- that is how we first met you.

Mary.
