Hi everyone..I'm Marguerite and I'm addicted to this sport!  I started working with Joe in March, and Sean last month and am really loving it!  I've trained with several different coaches but really think I've got something special with Joe and Sean...so I'll stay here for a while.

A little about me, I'm 40 (yikes),married, and have twins (6 year olds).  We live in Deer Valley, Utah (yes, the ski resort) and I must say - this is my favorite time of year - it's beautiful here.

We had temporarily moved to Los Angeles at the beginning of this year but moved back in August (we hated it!!).  I was planning on an October 18th competition in Los Angeles (NPC), but since moving back to Deer Valley,  I have had to put my travel on hold.  My older cat developed wicked asthma while in Los Angeles and has to have meds. twice per day.  It's a 2 man job so there will be no travel for me for a while.  Without the meds., he won't be able to breathe...I love him so it's a small sacrifice.

So, long story short, Joe and I are working towards a November 1st "competition date".  I pushed it back a bit because I occasionally have these binges and it just drives me crazy.  I have to say, it's a little hard staying on track knowing that I won't be stepping on stage this year but next year I will for sure.

I competed last year - NPC - at about 100lbs.  Right now, I'm 102.4 lbs. and Joe thinks that I need to be at about 95lbs.  I need some muscles in my off season!!! I know, that went without saying.  I also think the NPC is not for me so I'll have to work on choosing a competition in another federation.

Well, I'm rambling, this is my first journal and after reading everyone else's journal, I decided that I really would like to be a part of this community.  Hopefully, we'll figure something out with our cat and I'll be able to travel, and meet some of you.  I'd love to do a training session with Sean, and my posing needs help!!

I need everyone's help staying on track for the next 5 weeks - my goal is to lose 7 lbs.  Then, I'd like to do a good build before my next set of competitions.

I'll post the next set of pictures that I send to Joe.

Todays macros...125/100/25-30.

Thanks for reading!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Yes - let's definitely start the 40+ club....I have to say that turning 40 was a BIG DEAL for me this year...odd because I usually don't care about my age.

I just finished my high volume back and traps workout and I am dying.  Sean's workouts are wicked.

Jane - I read some of your journal (still making my way through) but I noticed that you have some bingeing episodes as well.  Any advise? You look great by the way.

Liz, Summerset and Baby Girl - I'll be making my way through your journals as well - so much to read!! I've got to catch up.

As soon as I do my check-in with Joe next monday, I'll get some pics. up.  I'll also start posting my weight daily...that should keep me in check!!

Cardio - 35 minutes stepmill intervals level 12 - DONE!

Training- high volume back and traps - DONE!

hey there!!! I'm glad you started a thread here. Very cool!

Everybody...this chick is an animal in the gym. She likes to destroy herself, so she'll fit right in around here. :)

Welcome, Marguerite! 40 is not bad at all Smile In my 40's (I'm 52)I learned to embrace it and now, my 50's are a lot better then I anticipated. I wouldn't change it for anything..

You're going to love working with Joe & Sean and they're going to make you look awesome. Looking forward to your journey and 'building together'. I'm in the building process with Sean as well and hopefully I'll have a training session with him in about 4 weeks.

Hi Marguerite and welcome.  You are in good hands as you know.  I too am in the over forty club (41 in a few weeks, yikes) and I too have twins.  they will be five in a few weeks.  Love them to pieces and they certainly keep me on my toes.   I actually like being 40, at least now when I am achy, I can blame it on my age....Wink  I also have 5 weeks left to diet, I started a bit late, so I am playing catch up and I am really having to work hard, but I am finally into it and I think it will all turn out okay if I can just keep up the pace.....sometimes I think I won't make it but then I think that 5 weeks is nothing, I can do it.   My own personal pep talk. Then there is all the support here, its priceless!

Advice on binging?  Ha!  I'm still working on that.  Of course, it's best if you can avoid it all together, but when it happens, the best advice I can give is to accept that it happened, forgive yourself, and get right back on track.  Find something to focus on that will keep you on track.  If you don't have a goal for after the comp, find one.  Big or small. If you read the past few days on my thread, you'll see that I'm struggling again.  Not with binging, but with nibbling.  Goal for this week is to drop a little weight, keep on my lowered macros with no nibbling, and if I do all that I get to eat carrot cake at my son's birthday party.  If you feel a binge coming on, try to distract yourself with a walk or jog, games with the kids....anything to get your mind off food.  As long as  you don't fall into that trap of, "Oh well, I screwed up...might as well eat what I want" you'll be fine.  Oh...and drink lots of water....I'm about to float away today!

Hi Marguerite!  Welcome!  Glad you decided to start a journal :)  We really should start a 40+ club here!  I just turned 48 :)
Looks like we have a lot in common.  My best friend is a 19-y old seal point siamese cat nicknamed Nikki who has had his share of health challenges including 4 tumors, caries, and diabetes (in remission believe it or not that can be done in cats! and Nikki is one of the lucky ones).  We used to have to do insulin 2x a day and it was no fun.  Quite a challenge for me and my family as traveling is an integral part of my job (college professor) and until that health challenge Nikki was my constant companion in the office and on the road (he's an amazing traveler!).  If I read correctly you are prepping for your second comp as am I and my first was also an NPC competition.  This time around I am doing an INBF comp (Monster Mash).

Again welcome and have a great day!

Good morning everyone.  Thank you all again for the warm welcome - I'm so glad that I started this journal.

Well, I did my check-in with Joe yesterday.  Our target is to be sub-100lbs. in about 10-12 days.  At that time I'll send in new pics.  Until then, I'll keep doing my prescribed cardio - 6 days/week with 3 being high intensity for 20 mins. and the other 3 being 35 minute moderate intensity.  I'm also cycling carbs which I'll continue to do.

My back is sore today from my high volume workout yesterday - I have to say - bent over bb rows is not one of my favorites.

Today I'll be spinning for 35 minutes for cardio, and training abs and calves.

Pam - glad to hear that Nikki is doing well.  I just think that you have to do what you can for them - I'm a huge animal lover.  We're hoping that Sagan's lungs improve with the fresh air that we have here in Deer Valley/Park City.  I'll keep you posted.  How are you doing on your contest prep?

Jane - that's exactly me...I screwed up .... so now I might as well eat everything that I can dream up - whatever touches my fingers goes in my mouth....and I thought I was a grown-up!!!

Miki  - You're right about the age thing...I just all of a sudden for the first time in my life felt like I was old.  I think a part of it was that this has just been a bad year with Sagan getting so sick and the fact that I'm not able to "fix it".  His sickness and taking him to the emergency room twice has really taken its toll.  Not to mention, we were in Los Angeles and really hating it.  We're back at home now and things are looking up.  I'm looking forward to our build together.  How long will your building phase be?

Have a good day everyone.
