We need some help with the website. Brian has been working tirelessly for a long time but he has a growing company moving in many directions and we've been sifting through some options to get a surge of needed work done on the site and then upkeep. A couple of options stand out to me: 1) someone to work for Brian being dedicated to this site for a period of time - kind of a sub-contractor. 2) someone to work with me doing the same thing. 3) someone coming on board, onsite and creating the position...but many things would have to fall into place. Not in a huge hurry, but I want to assess all good options; looking forward to ideas.

Can this person work remotely or do they need to live in your area?

Remote options can be fine. Pre-reqs include detailed programming and web design. Typically someone with a degree in Information Technology or another computer area with a lot of extra experience in programming or design.

How about a college intern (Senior) with 5 hours left for his computer graphics technology degree specializing in web design?

I can make it even better.....He'll do it for FREE! He needs a Senior project in his design class, so he needs to hook up with a company, complete a project by end of next school year and have someone from that company go to Indy for a 1 hour presentation when he's done.

But, in all reality, I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to saying "programming" - I just know I don't know what it means or how to do it . Whatever it takes to integrate all kinds of function - like this message board - and things like the fully-functioning store, new features like streaming web with privacy functions, downloadable pay-per-view, setting up admin areas with different levels of security - and then all the business tie-in functions....the hosting, the registering, the linking, the search engine placement, etc.

Ahem...I have "some" web experience, but my primary job is IT Security and Information assurance. I configure the COMSEC which is programming and test all types of equipment. Then I have to reccomend approval and write preocedures and regulations, etc.... Web is limited if you ahve an immediate need.

Char, does your experience fall in line with what we need? Herc, actual web is probably the biggest need...the programming (again, not knowing much of what I'm talking about) is writing code for the web to work, etc, and I don't know how much of that I could say is the greater need. I've had three web masters and they all had different educational and experiential backgrounds, but all focused on website building from start to finish.

We definitely need an intern around here. It'll be like the Sienfeld episode where Kramer hires Darren, the intern. They work together on Kramerica. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...that was classic. "Lets go throw this big ball of oil out the window". LMAO. Seriously though, the new person has to have the ability do build websites and help us operate them. :)

Loved the episode! Yes, I do have web experience - I am the web developer for the Medical Board of California (as well as other sites I have built from start to finish); however, I have had no "formal" training. Just OJT (but I have since taken classes over the years regarding designing in different styles, etc.). I am not as familiar with blogging or eCommerce (i.e., shopping cart), but am learning it now for a couple of other sites I'm working on.
