Hey Joe,

was doing some reading and came across something on the various types of sugars (not category like poly or mono) and it was said that fructose, although a simple sugar it supposedly fleads to a slower insulin release.  first, is this true? second, why? third, my first thought is that foods that typically contain fructose also contain a fair amount of fiber, which would slow insulin release by virtue of emptying slower from the stomach ( i think)  but i'm sure that any credit worthy  study would have isolated fructose before the measurement.

Fructose can't be used by muscle, therefore as it enters the bloodstream it has very little use.  If you're in a calorie surplus/blood glucose normal-to-increasing position, your liver will turn it to fat right there on the first pass.  Thus some guys starting the myth that fructose is bad.  In a calorie/blood sugar deficit, your liver starts turning into glucose, after it's already gone for a trip through the vascular system, thus the lower glycemic index value - favorable for dieting.
