At the suggestion of Graig, who seems to be able to spot people just as crazy as he, I am starting my own progress journal. For the past six months I've been working with Dr Joe. My goals have been to loose weight and, just as important if not more so, to understand how my body reacts to macronutrients. In the past whether loosing or gaining weight my diet has not been healthy. I was a restricter or a binger. I felt like I needed to drastically control my intake only to fall into a binge(or many). In the past decade, my weight has been as high as 170 and as low as 100. I've had some obvious trouble with food. The best decision I ever made was to put my trust in Dr Joe and let go of the control. Guess what? Planning and managing my food is the real control. For the first time in years I dont have that deep deep hunger from missing nutrients. I am learning my body and trust that Dr Joe already does! (you do, dont you?) I'm also very very fortunate to have a most loving and supportive boyfriend who is also part of team K. I dont have to explain to him the plan or feel wierd about measuring and packing my food the night before work. Or to plan ahead when eating at family functions. I dont have to explain me. So far I've lost about 10lbs. I have about 5-10 more to go. My biggest goal is to get working on fitness plan including cardio and resistance training. I had some interest in it 5-6 years ago and found that my body really likes growing muscle. I'm working on a new avatar. My boyfriend says "It looks like you are standing there saying...."ohmygodi'mhavingmypicturetaken!!!!!" dear in the headlights look. A little bit that's true. I'll be posting a new one soon. Thanks for the support all...means alot. p 100 c 100 f 20 weight: 125

Rachel, Thank you for reminding all of us competitive freaks that this is about alot more then our single point of competitive focus. That it is about a healthy lifestyle and understand what makes each of us tick! Really looking forward to watching you transform when you add the training element into the mix.

Rachel A brave and honest post.....Many people in the room are just 1 meal away from eating like karen carpenter or jackie gleason. "Healthy" "type A" control is good too!! Keep posting your progress. We all succeed as we all succeed!

Glad you're starting a thread, Rachel. To answer your question, most of the time I know what I'm talking about - well, if "most of the time" includes being about 80% sure about maybe 90% of the time about most things....for the rest I'm really convincing and I'm sure if I were wrong it wouldn't be too catastrophic. I think what Tony meant about the picture is in the hand position - it's somewhere between "I'm subconsciously practicing for my first figure show" and "I'm going to strangle you for making me take this picture."

Dr Joe...that's exactly what he meant with the hand position. LOL! He did an exact imitation of me with the hands sticking out and his best girl voice. 123.5 this morning. I need to slow down, don't I? I've been a little too lax about my fat intake...hitting only half the goal number. I think that will hurt the fullness/binge factor on my lower days. I'll probably have oats for dinner and add some udos. p 99 c 119 f 13
