Anyone like to time runs and work for improving certain distances?  I'm moving past my hamstring strain (I hope) and toward some new summer fun on the treadmill and track.  Here are my new Asics Nimbus Gel X's fresh off their first 2 mile pounding.  Having come from a long-standing bad strain, I haven't run in 18 months - longest layoff in a decade.  Moving up slowly with 5 easy runs last week and am trying to be disciplined to not over do it.  Best treadmill mile: 6:08.  Best two-mile: 14:00.  Best 5k: 21:55 (I know, I get way slower as the distance increases).  Best marathon: never.  Who thought that thing up?!  Best track quarter mile: 68 seconds (I so want sub-minutes).  Best track half mile: 3:00.  Best track mile: 7:00.  Best street 5k: don't ask.

Collins, as I recall, you can barely step off a curb without falling - I'll race ya any day of the week.

Mary, nice.......delt.  Yeah, that's it; nice delt.

Joe I also time my running.

I have two speeds:  slow and slower.

lately I've been doing the fast one.

Ok, Joe, you'd win the race.   I am certain I run slower than you & Mary both!

I was dripping wet Shellie.  And that water was very cold.  It was not a wet t shirt contest.  no...

Sean won't allow Steve and I on the track right now or we'd be up for the challenge.  He knows we'll go crazy.  I for one would be running hurdles and long jumping and Steve would be doing the same.  I know we could still pull off a hitch-kick if needed in the long jump.  Both of our backgrounds are from Track-n-Field so we've been having withdrawels.  For now, I'll stick with wind sprints up a steep hill out on the country roads.  Although I figure rollerblading is much more dangerous for me.  May have to give that up too.

Shellie, not a wet tee-shirt contest, but that picture was taken about 3 seconds before Mary almost got us arrested.  Who'd have known an amazon playing in a public fountain right in front of the sherriff's headquarters was a bad idea?  She's just bad news - dangerous to be around.

Sean, I tried to take a shot of them from the top down but my quads kept getting in the way.

Doc...just thought I would let you know that when I was in college I got into doing some 5k's, they werent "road races" in the truest sense, they were on wooded trails, up and down uneven ground.  I only ever did 3 races, but I got better each time...my final race, and my best time...I finished in 17:41...and that was just within the top 10!
