I'm hoping my post here saves me from copying and pasting the same answer over and over on Mondays, but I want to discuss what looking truly better the day after a show is and what the perception of looking better is.  Consider the person who dehydrates, over-carbs, and ends up very flat, small, smooth, and thick-skinned looking.  They get rehydrated, their muscle pulls in the water first, the interstitial glucose second, and BAM! - they're full, hard, and dry looking the day after.  Now, think of being hydrated, full, hard, but not quite crossing that line where you're spilled over.  That's as good as it gets.  Of couse that night you eat 2,000 calories of crap, you lie in bed sweating, your heart pounding, you stand up and you have FREAKY vascularity. That night or the next morning.  That's when I get the emails.  But, as I always tell people, put your trunks on, look at your butt, look at your lower abs, look at yourself every two hours - you're going to turn into a marshmallow at any time.  The fast vascularity you get is the first step in spilling over.  Look at these pictures of my legs - one very tight, crisp, deep separations and the other with 200% more vascularity.  If you only look at the veins - wow!  But notice there's not a hint of separation or striation anywhere.  Same body fat level, taken just a couple of weeks apart.  Questions?  Anyone?  Anyone?

Im learning every day Dr. J

Makes since, if i am reasoning right. The vascularity is from the carb spill over those extra nutrients are filling up the vessels better than when less vascular, but muscle striations are less because muscles are TOO full and round out instead of cut up.

hope i am making sense

After my last show, it was the same thing. Woke up the next day looking like a man made of marshmellos. Of course, I had veins EVERYWHERE right before I hit the sack that night. Arms, shoulders, tons in my abs (it was disgusting), legs, calves. LOL. Good times had by all. I would gladly sacrifice vascularity for freaky seperation.

Ok, Ok, I deserved it.

I was just thinking how I looked more like the "marshmallow" picture than the ripped one.

I'm with Shellie....interesting.  I"ve never been lean enough to see the vascularity or separation.  I have though had the pounding heart and sweats from too many carbs!  Tongue out  I thought it was a heart attack or early onset menopause so I didn't run to the mirror to check my veinage. lol

Nobody mentoned the amazingly painfully gigantic pumps they got the following monday in the gym, that is the best part of competing... the following week in the gym makes it all worth it... plus the awesme pictures you have from the contest and the trophy... but the pumps are amazing!

Yeah, I understand this one! As I was one who went crazy after my show, though I did plan everything out into servings so It didnt feel that much of a treat! LOL Except when my mom brought me home made cookies. I had a few that night... The next morning I woke up around 8:30 after only a few hours of sleep and had an 8 pack! I was like oh man thats sweet! I worked out Back and Bi;s and had an amazing workout. Bulging Bicep veins and all! Even some on my obliques, I enjoyed that! lol... Later that night.... Marshmallow is right. I felt bloated and GROSS! This morning (MONDAY) scale read 4 pounds heavier... Hope some of that is water weight lol! Anyway, trying to improve on my workouts now, back on Regular dieting.... 125 Pro 100 Cho and 25 fat w/ one high CHO day of 200... OCTOBER 25th Here I come.... =) LOL I wanted to eat the crap, guess you just have to learn from your experiences, and boy have I learned!

Rene...if you think you went "crazy" you have no idea.

Google "pulling a Dan". Apparently this idiot ate a whole jar of peanut butter backstage before the night show.

Just curious how did that affect your conditioning for the night show?
