Suits, Tanning, Shoes, ETC... (For figure)

Okay, so to me doing all of my homework for a first time competition is a bit time consuming (no big deal). A couple of questions...
Anyone used Cythina James for their posing suit? I have emailed her and am considering having her make the suit. Anyone used Jan Tana? Thinking about buying the competition color kit and makeup. Does anyone have a place they like to order their figure shoes from? Also- should I look for a shorter or taller heel? (I am 5'1, shorter torso longer legs). Not sure if I should be in 3", 4" or 5" heels? Mary Bell- I am getting ready to place an order for your DVD since I missed you at fantasy camp- looking forward to it! Help, overwhlemed in Indiana... |

Okay here is a body builder's who thinks like a figure chick (and has helped and awful lot of them) opinion. CJ - She does beautiful suits! They are pricey but not ridiculously so. I bought a used one that was fab, Michele Shepherd got one from her and it was underblinged but still awesome, I have a friend who is waiting for hers right now. Two other recommendations - Caron Hospedales (?), unfortunately she doesn't have a website - but her suits are beautiful, fit great and are pretty inexpensive (caronsuits@yahoo.com) & C&C Fitwear (ccfitwear.com) - she has a ton of premade suits on line plus expamples and prices are good. I love Jan Tana - absolutely order it - it goes on great is easy on the skin - you may or may not want a coat of Dream Tan on top - for figure you probably wont need it. I would skip her make up and use Mac. I think Mac is a little cheaper, matches great and its Mac. Figure shoes - Snaz75.com - depending on your legs 4 or 5" - if your legs are super lean or too skinny go with 4" if you legs are more muscular(even super lean) or thicker go with the 5". I think 3" can really look kinda dumpy. Since you are shorter you may really need the 5". There delivery is pretty quick to NJ and there prices are the best around (that I've found) |

Thanks Lucky Dog (Nancy right)? I am going to order the Jan Tana now :) I agree on the MAC makeup- that is all I use I just bought into the marketing of Jan Tana. I'll check snaz75. I agree on the shorter heel dumpy look. My mottow with heelz has always been- the higher the better :)

Oh, I like the Loretta's. But I am kind of digging the 9" red stripper shoes..WoW

I really don't think you can go wrong with anything red and 9" I was using the JT makeup to cover Jaime's tatoos and then we switched to Mac and that was the realization moment that Mac is probably better, just as good a match and it was doing the job better. For Mac - NW 45 works well for figure - I use the 47 for bbing but you wont get that dark for figure so 45 is better. Also, I have used Mac's version of BareMinerals Foundation in Dark (I think that is the darkest) instead of the NW47 and really liked it - you can layer it on until it is dark enough and its just alot nicer to wear. Not to mention you can use a light coat in the summer when you have color and actually get some use out of comp makeup. |

Kristin, whats your email address? I can send you an outline of the makeup application process with colors, etc... Totally agree with the Dog on shoes...higher the better, our legs always look fab in higher heels...as long as you practice practice practice I've used Caron for 3 different suits, they all come out gorgeous.

(5'1, will compete at 99-103, a cup and need padding to look like a c)! If you guys know anyone this size who is interested in selling their suit- I am game.

I love both of them. I am looking for the color that Caron made. I'll email her also. I am assuming she is a bit more reasonably priced than CJ?
