I was doing my regular scour of the internet for information related to shoulder joint problems and found this article http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/drryan13.htm about tendonosis.  I havnt heard of tendonosis but this article suggests that it is more common and takes longer to heal than tendonitis does.  The article also claims that treatments that would commonly help with tendonitis such as ice and nsaids could be counterproductive for someone with tondonosis.  I was just wondering if anyone here had any further knowledge about this?  The article also talks about friction massages which is something I found to bring a fair amount of relief.  Any comments?

True that most of us (training) go beyond simple tendonitis into more severe inflammation.  Same thing; just a progression.  Ice still good, but semi-aggressive massage techniques are helpful (if iced after) and can include even using instruments that cause some pretty deep bruising (by a trained professional, Lucas).
