Ok, I give up. Now that you have created this new area to post I guess I am going to have to stop lurking and start contributing. We finally have our squat rack, platform, and bench press in the studio, so this is Week 1 getting back to the big lifts. I am hoping to do a Raw (belt only) meet sometime in early 2008. If anyone else is interested, let me know.

Sweet! How about using a picture of you deadlifting 600 for your avatar? I don't think I can stomach letting my body weight stay above 170 so my pursuit of a 500 lb squat and deadlift may be dwindling and my bench press on a good day may not even be good enough to beat Napolean Dynamite, so I may just have to cheer you on. But I'll do my best to push for size/strength to spur Sean on this offseason (and make sure I'm always stronger than him ....until I break something else)....give me some numbers and I'll see if it's worth it for Sean and I to even attempt it. Maybe I can get Advil to sponsor me.

I knew that creating this forum would kill me. LOL.

I'll try to get a picture to use. I will do some research and see if I can find some of the top totals for the different weight classes. Nothing wrong with Advil. Whatever gets you through the workout. This week is a "welcome back" week and then I will start structuring my training cycle. I will keep you posted. As I get closer I will definitely be getting your input on nutrition as I make my final decision on a weight class (181 or 198 depending on where my body goes).

It would take a few lunches with Sean, and some psychotherapy, but I could make the 198 class too.

Joe I only dream about the 198's. I should be there soon though. Heck 2 years ago I competed in a bench press competition at 267lb.....not cool! I'm at 206 now. Pretty soon Sean will weigh more than me. That will mess with his head. If any body has any questions about some powerlifting techniques let me know. I'll try to help. I could even post some example workouts for you guys if you are interested.

What archives Sean. Is it the archive you are creating of all to whacked out stuff I've been saying lately with my reduced carbs. You realize I haven't sold anything for 15 weeks, and won't for at least another 17. I'm sooooo broke cause of you!! Should we do some box squats in KC? That's a good powerlifting move.

Well, after the pizza, brownies, and potato chips this weekend, I may be deciding between the 198 class and the 220's. After the warmup week last week, today begins week 1 in preparation for a potential January meet. Bench press emphasis today, Heavy Deadlifts Wednesday, Speed Box Squats Friday. Next week will be speed work for the deadlifts and heavy on the squats. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Glad to see you have a direction with your training Tony. I am going to push forward with my goal of doing a fall show but I am definitely interested in working in on some of your heavy days, at least before my calorie levels dip too much. O.K. what the heck I'll lift heavy with you anytime, it's just too much of a temptation that I can't resist. Maybe with your help I can push my bench up another 25 to 50lbs this year!

I am doing a powerlifting meet on August 4th in the 100% RAW organization. I am trying to get to 242 to try and go after the national record for 35-39 year olds in the bench press. It is only 325 right now. I did 363 last year at 269. I did my first strongman contest on July 14th. My log press was only 210. I flipped the 600lb tire 60 feet in 59 seconds. I did the Farmers carry with 230lbs in each hand for 136 feet. I went 60 feet with the yoke and 550lbs in 17 seconds and I pulled an 18,000lb semi rig 60 feet in 35 seconds. I got 8th in the MW class which I was very happy with for being my first time out. If I ever do bodybuilding again I will for sure include some strongman training. I feel stronger, denser, and more muscular than ever and I am only at 250.

Jason B, Where is the competition on Aug. 4th? Good luck! Also some very impressive efforts in the strongman competition. There are definitely some benefits for bodybuilders to include some strongman/powerlifting training in their routines. Also I always find it nice to have new, unusual challenges to add to a training routine.
