GDAs are glucose disposal agents and they help control blood sugar, I believe you take them with your meals but I just recently heard about GDA's and wanted to know if anyone had any experience. Does this stuff work or am I wasting my time writing this? I am an endomorph and when I herd the words “Controls blood sugar and helps you control insulin" I got excited. Vanadyl Sulfate and Chromium Polynicotinate are two GDA’s. Let me know what you guys think about GDA's

Never heard of them. Menna I dunno how you feel about supplements, but i honestly have seen MORE results when i am off of them and more muscle gain and energy and fat loss too. I just avoid them as much as possible. I feel sound nutrition is best all the way around. I was scared at first to rid myself of all my supps, but glad i did. My body feels cleaner, less edgy from the caffeine, im losing weight finally, and strength and size are increasing. The only supp i take, because i see results is cheap basic CREATINE monohydrate. Its cheap and does the job. Just be careful about every lil supp that comes down the pike. I dunno i just got sick of shelling out money to muscletech and all these other million dollar corporations for stuff that really didnt work. There are not strick laws on these supps and they dont necessarily have to work. I dont know anything about these GDAs but i figure it wouldn't be that helpful. Maybe i am wrong, but food is the #1 blood sugar controller, so that can be a FREE controller and no money spent. I have so so much xtend in my room and other supps. I dont use right now, just try as low as supps as possible. Your choice, but my opinion SAVE YOUR MONEY

I agree with you most supplement companies out there are garbage along with most supplements…Right now I take Beverly International Ultimate Muscle Protein, multivitamin and fat burner, Prima force BCAA’s and Optimum nutrition L – Glutamine (contest diet supplements). These are all reputable companies and supplements. I just heard about GDA’s and it sounded interesting. I know that you can use them as a natural bodybuilder and just wanted to know if anyone had any experience using them and what would they would recommend for me (brand and dosage)?

I'm probably going to get spanked but I'm a pretty big fan of GDAs - Last year I was using Anabolic Pump (which I'm assuming is not the ones your referencing) and The Doc put me on what was basically GDAs to control some erratic binge (blood sugar) urges.  I ended up dieting on alot more carbs then he expected.  Coincidence, maybe - just my body type, maybe - did I get extra help from my supplementation, maybe.

I would really like to hear Joe weigh in on this specifically cause the supplements that work as GDAs aren't radical controversial items.

Let us wait patiently..................Yell

people have been using GDA’s for years and for some reason it isn’t talked about or used as much today. The two most effective GDA’s are Chromium Polynicotinate and Vanadyl Sulfate there is another form of chromium and it is called Chromium Picolinate it isn’t as effective and is known to be toxic. From my research you should take 200 MCG of Chromium Polynicotinate and 10mg of Vanadyl Sulfate at each meal during contest prep (Minimum dosage). Obviously dosage differs from person to person because everyone is different but they say that is a good starting point and then adjust dosage based on how your body reacts.

Ha! I love the name - as if it disposes of glucose.  Chromium is over done, vanadyl is good but the effective doses can likely be dangerous, and some B-vitamins are always good.  Combined well with some other herbal elements and they can be helpful.  The one I think I recommended to you, Dog; TRA/HTP?  I don't think they make TRA now; replaced with another product.  If you feel better blood sugar stability, less crashing, etc, I'm all for it.

What did you use Nancy?  Where did you buy it?

I missed this sorry guys.

Yup Doc - TRA/HTP - then my Osteo suggested a supplement/vitamin called Glucothera that seems to be doing the same trick and has the right Chromium and VS in it.

Shellie - I use Anabolic Pump (USP Labs) - Doc makes fun of me but I like it and I'm not giving it up (it doesn't have any Splenda thankfully).  I also use alot of glutamine, then the Glucothera since the one Joe had me on last year was pretty expensive then I couldn't find it.  I also do some ALA, Milk Thistle combo thing.

I really don't know but it does seem to keep me more stable and I seem to notice if I miss - placebo or not I don't know and don't feel the need to really test that theory - I'm enough of a nut job with out testing it.

And please don't make fun of us but my hubby and I are playing around with a glucometer and the Supps mentioned by Menna - I was already basically on them and will not change anything mid prep - but Scott is in a great position to test things on himself.  If we find out anything fascinating I will share.

Nancy,

I think it's a very good idea to keep an eye on your glucose level.  A few times, recently, I've felt very hypoglycemic.  It's not fun & I want to prevent it at all cost.

I just ordered some Dialene 4 to try.

To a great extent Shel we put our selves into a low grade state of hypoglycemia by eating with the frequency that we do.  I'm a train wreck if I slide to far past a meal NOT PRETTY!!!

I see, that's why I've been shaky & grumpy so much lately.

Yes, it's not pretty!

I would love to hear your results regarding the glucometer test…I believe normal blood glucose levels are 70-110. To truly test if the CP and the VS are working eat a high carb meal without taking the two supplements then test your blood glucose levels. Then the next day eat the same meal but use those two supplements during the meal and if your blood glucose levels are lower when using the supplements then the Chromium and Vanadyl are working.
