that every single time I give Bubba (my 104 pound chocolate lab) a bath, he goes outside and rolls in the dirt? Anyone? Anyone? (that was my best Ben Stein)

After my lab is finished swimming in the lake and fetching tennis balls he will get out and drag his lower body across the grass, up and down my yard. It looks like hes trying to hump the grass and i can't help but laugh and yell, "Rufus!!! What the Hell are you doing??"lol

I have a blacklab, and she does the same. I'll be the dork and explain the natural reasons these dogs dirty themselves, lol.

Washing them strips their coat of oils neccessary for healthy skin (hence why you don't bathe these dogs weekly). It also cleans off the natural layer of dirt these dogs are used to. It provides some protection, believe it or not.

So buy rolling in the dirt they renew that natural layer of dirt. The roling is also soothing to their skin, which has just been stripped of oil and is to dry for their taste, lol.

Apparently labs love water but hate soap lol.

My dog does it too, its annoying but hilarious. I personally think that my dogs does it to spite me, lol.

I remember when Bubs was that small...he was hilarious. Running around the house, he would just face-plant, tripping over his huge feet. HAHA! Then he would just lay there and sleep for an hour. Now he is full grown dog and terrorizes any poor live creature he can find. He either wants to play with it or bring it back to me as a present. Thats my dog!

Sounds like "Match in Heaven" ( You terorize and play with people..sleep a lot...run around the house-for no reason and I am sure you do trip over your feet from time to time)

Hmmm...you pretty much just described me perfectly. My huge feet do cause a problem sometimes. Thats one of the reasons I decided to take a up a sport where absolutely no athleticism is required. It seems much eaiser to me!

Come on now Sean.  That guy has way bigger legs than you.

Lets get back to your dog.  Is he coming up to Des Moines with you?

I think Bubba is staying here actually. It could be a tight fit with a mut, 3 people, luggage, food, and a 546 on the way home. LOL. That and I would feel bad pawning him off on my mom for 2 days. I'll board him here where he can play with other dogs and do lewd things to them for 2 days. LOL!
